Very nice and clean, very well kept. Lovely view from a top of the hill. On the bottom there is a lovely caffe with charming lady inside. She makes great ice coffee.

Not as close as the resort maps inferred but well worth the walk. Take some water!. Visited last September.

There is a exhibition at the base of the cemetery with British, German and Greek testimonies. Well kept grounds with good views.

A thought inducing place. Well tended grounds and very informative boards telling the story of the formation of the cemetery prepare you for the poignant vista further up the hill

We walked to the German War Cemetery as it is not far off the main road in Maleme. We were struck by the well tended graves and how many lost their lives in the 2nd World War.

Overseen by The German Graves Commission, the German cemetery near Maleme airport on the North coast of Crete 20 km west of Chania and one km above the village of Maleme is worth a visit. 4.465 German soldiers who lost their lives are laid to rest here most of them were paratroopers who died during the invasion of Crete in... It is part of the history of 2nd world war. It's easy access and you can admire the view of Maleme airport and the combat field.

This is a great place to visit, the main reception area has a display to tell you about the German landing in WW2 which is very interesting. The cemetery it self is brilliantly maintained and the view over looking the bay seems just a perfect place to lay the solders to rest with the big cross at the front. The... More

Superbly designed and sited cemetery, overlooking the hotly disputed Maleme airfield and the Tavronitis riverbed where so many young German paratroops were killed. This cemetery contains all the German war dead from Crete during WW2 and is a fitting monument to the futility of war. The site is beautifully maintained, it has toilets and there is a cafe/taverna nearby. There... More
