We tracked this place also by reading reviews. They offer tasting tours but we were in a rush so one of the owners kindly agreed to do a 15 minute tour only with us :) They have some really interesting tastes. Don't miss this place if you want to buy some local wine.

There are no words to express our admiration, appreciation and enjoyment of wine tasting in Lyrarakis ;) Incredibly friendly Anna, who guided us through the vineyard made huge impression on us.We felt like V.I.P We chose a package for € 20 per person and it was fantastic money spent, refreshments were simply delicious like wine that after tasting of course... Well known producer who think a lot about autochtonic varieties. During our visit we had the oportunity to see different vineyards with history of the place and causes of changes in planting. Interesting, surprising wines...and rosmarin everywhere. Beautifull place and nice guiding

We put a winery / wine tasting as one of the first thing to do on Crete -- knowing that we'd likely end up with a few bottles to enjoy from our hotel in the following days. This winery is well known for having "rescued" several local varieties from eventual extinction in the face of wine globalization (i.e. Chardonnay dominance)... More

We visited Lyrarakis Winery on a spur of the moment decision. Although the website recommends booking we thought we'd pop in and see if they could fit us in. From the moment we arrived they were friendly and accommodating and we got straight on a tour at 1pm. The tour takes you around the vineyards and then into the cellar... More

The tour times are very convenient for every type of visit. Our tour guide was very informative about the history of wine making on Crete and this winery in particular. The vines were already harvested, but we managed to find a few grapes to try - I never had better grapes in my life! I could only imagine the quality... More

Having spent many, many years visiting wineries in NAPA, Tuscany, Bordeaux and South Africa gave me perspective on how wonderful Lyrarakis Wine truly is. On our sixth visit to Crete, we finally made time to visit the Wine Road close to Heraklion. Too bad we missed it for the past 5 years, given this has been a family establishment for... More

Thank you Global Citizen for your kind review! Some navigation systems do indeed give false (or not the best possible) directions and this is why we suggest caution with their use. The easiest way to the winery is following our brown signs along the way. We are happy that you enjoyed your time in the winery and that the Cretan... More

A world class wine tour and tasting. Areti was the best. Very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and made my experience memorable. Worth the effort to get there. If you don't have a car, public transportation available.
