Description:

A fun hands-on journey through Crete’s culinary traditions for food lovers...

A fun hands-on journey through Crete’s culinary traditions for food lovers and cooking enthusiasts. An insight into regional cuisine, a key element of the island’s culture, this creative market to table activity highlights the simple, seasonal foods of Crete. Friendly and informal, it features hands-on instruction and delicious home-cooked food. The activity is hosted in an 18th century farmhouse surrounded by organic gardens, just a short drive from Chania. The location has been selected for its character and ambiance, which makes for a perfect backdrop. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, guests discover how to prepare a number of Cretan dishes under the directions of a local cook. Those who prefer to take a less active role may choose to just relax and appreciate the atmosphere. Our fun experience culminates at the table, where together, drinking Cretan wines, we will enjoy the food and the company.

My family and I went on the Eastern Med cruise and had the time of our lives. This was a picture taking tour if I ever was on one. The downtown area is blocked off to motor vevicles, making this and ideal location for foot traffic. The beaches are crystal clear, as the food is delicious. Lamb and wine are... More

Our cruise ship docked at the port of Souda which I believe is about 10 kilometres from Chania centre. Local buses do a shuttle service to Chania to cater for the cruise passengers and it is only 3.00 euros return. On the way in the town looks pretty run down in places, but it all changes when you get to... More

On our Eastern Mediterranean cruise, we had a port day in Chania, Crete and wanted to do something different. Being "foodies" we booked a cooking class. Diktynna travel was able to fit the class into our tight schedule (arrival at 7am and departure at 3pm). Anna met us in the port and took us on a lovely tour of the... More

The area of NW Crete, from the lovely Almirida Bay, up to and including Chania, seem to offer everything I look for in a relaxing holiday. Lovely welcoming people, beautiful beaches, super little tavernas serving delicious food, low cost of living/eating out, interesting sights and cities. What more could one ask of a holiday? In the depths of winter, I... More

My wife and I have just returned from 11 days on Crete. We have spent our holidays in a small village of Platanias, near Chania. This was our second time on Crete, but the first time on the western side of the island. Our general impression is that it is much more interesting than the eastern part. The city of... More
