    Ancient & Small Relic
This 13th/14th Century Church is still in remarkable condition, considering its age! The interior & the religious frescoes are in poor condition but still well worth a visit. The water damage is bad in sections but some are very good and bright in colour & design. The site is very popular and can get crowded.

    Beautiful frescoes and iconography
If you are in this part of Crete, this small church must be visited. Built around the 13th century every internal wall is painted with beautiful frescoes with rich iconography. The entry free is €3 per person. It can easily be reached by car with some parking adjacent to the church. There is also a gift shop selling postcards, religious icons and other souvenirs.

Keep trying if it’s not open. It is well worth it!
Don’t be put off if at first visit this church is closed. It is meant to open 10-230 every day except Tuesday, but sometimes things don’t go smoothly and a sign appears on he church door, not open today! But it is worth the effort of returning because the frescoes that line the walls are really remarkable though weathered to greater or lesser extent. Certainly it gives the visitor a glimpse of a further side of Cretan history and heritage. Many paintings are quite naive but mostly painted by local artists perhaps 600 years ago. Magical!

This is such a beautiful little church. The frescos are impressive and very interesting. It's only a small place so it won't be a long visit but definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Was ok but seen a lot nicer churches. You need to pay to enter, not expensive but not that exciting.

It's a church. Yeah, it's old, and it is worth a visit, but unless you are a believer, there is nothing to impress here.
It a stop we made on our way to somewhere else, I don't regret seeing it, not at all, but for me it wasn't impressive.

A must-visit if you're staying in Agios Nikolaos. Small but magnificent church, boasting some of the very best Byzantine frescoes I've seen in several trips to Greece. Entry fee is 3 euros.

Were able to see just the exterior, since it was closed. Was told that the person responsible opens the place in very limited ours. So we went all the way from Chora Sfakion for nothing. It seems that the byzantine icons are filled with cement restauration !!!

A worthwhile experience, the church has wonderfully preserved fresco scenes of the life of Christ.
Our unplanned visit was enjoyable, would recommend to anyone who has an interest in art, history, or churches.
