Hammam Baths in Athens is a must visit place. Maybe more "civilized" from the originals baths in Asia or Magreb, but surely a great place for easing off after an exhausting day. As a big fan and experienced user of Hammams I can definitely say that this one is one of the best I've visited! Well equipped, well designed and a magnificent staff! Both professional and kind. Even If you never had a Hammam experience before, they will be kind and patient to explain you the procedures and the kinds of treatments.... More

It's funny...I'm Greek, I live in Athens but I heard of this place from an American friend visiting Athens and read about it in his travel guide so we decided to try it! The experience was amazing. We took the Ali Mama experience. The staff is very friendly. They guide you all the way if you haven't been there before.... More

I really enjoyed my Ali Mama experience at the Hammam Baths. A very professional place with great staff. It was a great way to end my trip to Athens especially after four days of walking, walking and walking! It was clean, relaxing, and everything I had hoped it would be. It was especially handy as we were staying at the... More

Located close to the Thissio metro station this is a great place to go to relax and chill out. We had a steam one day and then an hours massage on another. Time drifts away. The only criticism Id have - and its only a minor one - is the noise of the hairdryers which can be heard in the... More

A little hard to find but really close to the green metro stop 'thissio'. We booked the 'ali mama' experience which firstly involved time in the turkish bath area. We then had a massage which I'd describe as vigorous! Done very professionally with great care. Not everyone's idea of a relaxing but we found it incredibly beneficial after pounding the... More

I wouldn't have ended my stay in Athens any other way! I'm SO glad that we came to the Hammam. The staff is absolutely amazing and they speak wonderful English. My friend and I both enjoyed the Ali Mama Hammam which was 45 euros. Honestly, you can't help but feel like a queen. The soak in the steam room, the... More

Little bit hard to find but lovely inside once we found it. Was unique experience to bath in the hamman and my husband and I booked the Ali mama which I didn't really enjoy but my husband did. The lady that massaged me looked quite annoyed and was quite rough and got soap in my eyes a few times which... More

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
