OMG!! What an exhilarating and awesome experience! I always treat myself to spa treatments and the Ali Mama Bath was all that and then some!! My body was bathed from head to toe by Mary....she was very good! Although she spoke little English, we were still able to communicate effectively! Highly recommend this to anyone that loves to pamper themselves!!

We took 4 adults and 3 kids to the baths. It was a great experience. The kids enjoyed talking about what it would have been like to use these bathes in the Roman times. The staff were really polite, and the experience was very relaxing. It was a great break in a busy walking schedule, and we would highly recommend... More

Although expensive for my standards, still this is a great escape for you in the city center. Kind people and nice environment. Book in advance!

Was directed very well initially by the staff as they explained to me the whole process, good massage, small but pleasant main bath area. The complimentary tea and Turkish delight after is a nice touch and the resting area very relaxing. All in all a great experience, helped by the very professional staff.

I am a massage therapist, and I make it a point to incorporate some kind of massage/spa into every trip I take. This place was incredible. I could not schedule a massage because they were already all booked, but I scheduled a bunch of other things from their menu. All of them were better than I expected. I would definitely... More

Looked nice and staff very professional. However for 25 euro you do want constant hot water to bathe in. Shame really as that was the main downside. Everything else was lovely. Still good though! Relaxing.

My husband went along with me on this one, and the steam really helped clear up his lungs (he was smoking at the time). It was a fun way to spend an hour or so in Athens.

I have no words of how perfect my experience in the Hammam baths was. Not only it was incredibly beautiful and clean but the service was more than excellent, so are the prices, and of course the staff! I literally felt like a Queen. I would definitely suggest it to someone for relaxation and as a fantastic beauty treatment. Also,... More

Not as true a Hammam experience as I have had in Turkey, but wonderful nonetheless. The strangest thing to get over is the co-ed experience. Once you do, the place is wonderful - clean, modern, friendly staff, excellent scrub down and massage. The neighborhood is a bit quirky - sort of like New York's meatpacking district when there actually was... More

Being a "traditional Brit" I was a tad nervous about trying out an experience like this. I'd heard all sorts of rumours and scaremongering. Let me tell you in no uncertain terms: this place is absolutely fantastic and professional in every way! From the excellent e-mail communication through the booking process (booking is essential), to the warm, reassuring welcome at... More

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
