The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.

When I finished visiting the History of Athens I went there to find out what it is. At my time of visiting Technopolis, a Jazz festival was going on. Good timing. There was also a Gas museum that could be visited.
The Cafe sold also cold bottled beers.
It is located near metro Kerameikos.
The archeological site of Kerameikos is also nearby.

We came here on a Saturday morning to visit the Industrial Gas Museum. Very quiet - we were the only people for most of the time we were there. The Technopolis site is a complex of buildings used for events, and also has the preserved buildings and equipment of the old gas works. You pay €1 each and can then follow the numbered areas to go through the various processes of refining the gas for consumer use - very interesting and well worth visiting. Also there is a "skywalk" playground which has a high walkway suitable for older children. Easy to get to - we used the trolleybus from Omonia and it is also next to Kerameikos metro.

Art exhibitions are meant to make you think. This one captured my imagination like none other. Banksy's art demands attention and consideration of the many social challenges we face today.

It is an interesting sight, well restored and efficiently documented so you can simply go there and walk around, read the signs (has English) to understand what you see (and how this technological enterprise evolved, and was linked to the social/ economical changes in Greece. Plus the site, now, is real pretty and welcoming. Also has a nice cafe.
There was some mention of entrance fee, but we saw no open cashier, or any other collection procedure.

It's 10 minutes walking from Thissio metro station. It's free entrance but you can pay 1 euro for entering the buildings as a museum. If you are interesting in gas machines then it's interesting. There is the best play ground of Athens with a huge slide, only for children over 4 years old. My children had fantastic time there and didn't want to leave. There is also a small play ground at the entrance for smaller children. There is a small museum shop. The cafe looks nice but people smoke inside so it's was not possible for us to enter with children.

Learned about this place from a local at the hotel. The bars are plenty, music, food and street art. Would definitely watch you back, but like every city be careful. Getting there was cheaper to Uber than take public transportation but there is a stop right there. Plenty of rooftop bars and restaurants for all types but it does looks to screw toward the 20-30 crowd. That said there is a park there and earlier in the day saw people with kids. There is a restaurant you can eat in the air, yeah best to watch than to do, but is unique! Totally recommend this place over any other hang out touristy spot in Athens. You can have genuine fun on a budget.

This area is incredible for going out! Good food and good clubs. Also a lot of culture here doing the daytime, but more authentic and modern than the rest of Athens.

Accessible place, if you exclude the rocky pavement, and big. I've seen plenty of artists there and afterward, it has so many places nearby to have a drink or to eat something.
