Bastar Palace is one of the prime tourist attractions in Jagdalpur. Built by the rulers of the Bastar state, the palace was renowned as the headquarters of the Bastar kingdom. The palace is historically famous and thousands of tourists visit Jagdalpur to have a look of this momentous architectural splendour. The Bastar Palace is said to have been built during the ancient times when the rulers of Bastar shifted their capital from Barsur to Jagdalpur. The main attraction here is the exquisite carvings and engravings that one can find on the walls and ceiling of the palace. The government has built a monument inside the palace vicinity, wherein tourists can enjoy seeing various artifacts and the portraits of the bygone kings. The beautiful gardens that encircle the palace are a sight to behold.

While the palace may be grand in it's hey days but now it is just the structure. It was under maintenance when we visited but on exploring and investigating we found it doesn't have any presentation rooms for visitors informing them of the history of the place. So not sure if it will worth visiting post its overhaul.

this place is also good attraction to visit. inside there is a small Goddess Danteswari temple, in the first floor there is row lights covered in the entire floor. A must visit during the Dashera time, a chariot is built in front of the palace during that time to make the Rath Yatra.

This is a nice place as the King lives here still and they have converted the palace partially into a hotel.

Bastar is one of those places that has not been touched by mainstream tourists due to the threat of Naxals but it is one of the most beautiful place in India. It is soo green that you feel like staying here. The Bastar Palace is in Jagdalpur which is the district headquater and is a beautiful one

The palace of Bastar is still been looked after by Rajmata krishna kumari deviji. The government has not built any monument inside the palace vicinity. It is a request to kindly correct the description given. It is a private property of the ruler and the govt. plays no role in it. Regards, Ms.Shah
