We had beautiful weather. And early spring seems to be the best time to go. Will definitely go back and see what does it look like in other seasons. But spring blossoms and flowers made it look really special. We didn't go inside the castle. The tickets are 14 CHF for adults. There is a nice park and play area... More

I had only one more day in Switzerland and I had to choose between the different castles in Aargau. I'm so glad I chose Wildegg! Lenzburg castle has more visitors, but from what I could gather, the visit is more targeted for kids. Wildegg has a trail for children and even play areas, but the main itinerary appeals to adults.... More

It was difficult to get there because we don't have a car and had to walk UPHILL from the train station. But it was totally worth it because the views are stunning and the castle itself was a worthwhile destination. The admission was also free since we bought the Swiss Travel Pass. The grounds were covered in spring flowers and... More

Built in the early 13th century on a hilly outcrop, this ancient structure is beautifully maintained and furnished to the hilt with antique furniture from the elapsed centuries. Within the castle, everything is freely accessible, only very few rooms are partially roped off. Take your time to wander through the exhibits and stop to take a view out of the... More

Beautiful gardens, lovely small courtyard cafe, farm shop with animals grazing outside, and very interesting castle rooms make for a great day out. Mostly locals and some individual tourists, but none of the large bus groups that overpower some other Swiss destinations.

easily reached from Basel or Zurich, Wildegg offers furnished rooms from the 15th through the 19th centuries. The variety and beauty of the many wood-burning stoves for heating, covered in decorated tiles, are remarkable. Weapons including booty from the defeat of Suleiman the Magnificent before Vienna in 1683 are impressive. Tasteful bouquets of flowers as well as gourds testify to... More

We all enjoyed the castle and grounds, and we agreed that the best part of it was the FREEDOM of it all! Virtually no rooms were inaccessible (that is to say, one can enter and move around freely - I very much doubt any of it is 'wheelchair accessible'), and very few things were roped off. It was possible to... More

A nice way of going back in history. Went already 2 times and visited both inside and garden, which is also my recommendation - garden itself looks nice but the inside was "the cherry on top"

That was such a nice walk there and back, beautiful castle with lots of rooms build first in twelfth century on the top of the hill. Great info in English as well. Beautiful inside and outside- garden with vegetables and flowers. Must see if you are in the area!

It was hot. The car park involves a 200 metre walk uphill and I wasn't sure I needed to engage with Schloss Wildegg. I'm so glad I did! It is a marvellous place to visit. From the shop/ticket desk you are ushered into a room that has illuminated portraits of some of the castle's occupants. As the door closes behind... More
