If you have time, go there several times with different weather and time of the day. The view are wonderfull. The church is more or less modern inside and only needs a quick visit. Walk around, stop on the way: look!

A truly beautiful building, currently undergoing some much needed restoration but the "front" window is still visible &it hasn't stopped the crowds making the journey.

Of course you can take the tram, but where's the point in that? As a Camino Peregrino (pilgrim) I wanted to walk. Looking back it was awesome, because the area of the Santuario de Santa Luzia is really beautiful. The view is amazing: From far...More

Going up costs some money, however very little compared with what you get. The best view, covering all Viana, amazing. Also, the inside is really beautiful as well as the outside.

If you are visiting Viana don’t leave without going to Santa Luzia. From the basilica you get one of the most impressive panoramic views. Also worth an experience is to have a drink or a meal at the hotel behind the basilica. Enjoy!

Nice interior. The windows are amazing. Very good views of the city below. If staying in town take the tram up to it.

We stopped at the church on our way from the Pousada. It is a beautiful space, we were only able to look around quickly as they were about to have a wedding.

We stayed at the Pousada located just above this church so we walked down to see what it was all about. The interior is cheerful and uplifting and the location with the view of the city and ocean should not be missed. You can take...More

I'm sorry for the delay, I was on vacation. It is FREE. However, you have to get there, on top of a hill. Take Funicular or taxi. Walk up ? Hours: Tu to Sun 10AM-13h & 14h- 18hr. Close Mon & holidays.
