I wonder If the gouvernement controles the bridge. Rust and holes all over. Great architectural design.

It took a little waiting for the funicular but well worth it to go up to the top and walk across for the view. I think a direct walk up to the top would be a brutal (as it's crazy steep from the river to the top. Might be one of the best views in the city. The bridge is... More

What can you say about a bridge - apart from it gets you from one side of the Douro to the other. You can walk across on the lower level – riverside – or take a right outside the Cathedral and walk over the top deck – sharing the space with the Metro trains that shuttle across every 10 minutes.... Easy to cross to each pedestrian walkway to view both sides, up and down river Fabulous raised garden's to visit at the southern end or jump on the cable car, tho at 6 euros to go down... More

The walks from top or bottom are great (prefer the view from the top). The metro (yellow line) goes over the top. It is cool, but mostly tourists.

The Ponte de Douro is a top 10 in Porto as it offers beautiful views, a cool breeze and takes one to the better views of Porto from the other side of the river. But it's high and the tram shares the bridge, a little challenging for those of us who are afraid of heights but worth it. There is... More

The King Luis I dominates Porto's river view. We enjoyed crossing this bridge from Porto to Serra do Pilar Monastery and the Gaya's riverbank. The bridge has 2 levels, the Metro runs on the upper level and the regular traffic on the lower one.
