Definitely a decent bridge. Full marks for engineering (it didn't fall over while we were there) and functionality (it allowed us to cross from one side of the river to the other). It also offers nice views of the Douro and the Port houses.

It's just a bridge and you will need to cross it to get to the other side (appreciate that is stating the obvious) and there are two levels - the highest level provides great views up and down the river and is on the street up from the train station.

Walk from Porto to the Port houses, and back across this scenic crossing of the Douro. The trains and walkway on the bridge top, with cars and walkway on the lower crossing at the riverfront. Fascinating construction and history.

If you walk across, be safe, but the sensation of being above the Douro is lovely. We walked across with the walking tour, which included the history of the bridge.

Given my dislike of all things " heights ", I tend not to take much interest in bridges, but this one is that bit special. It is located in the heart of the main tourist area bordering the river - the Ribeira and links direct to Villa Nova de Gaia [ or just plain Gaia to the locals] on the... More

Intresting place with stuning views. To get the best view go to the parc de mouro after you cross the bridge

It is an easy walk with a nice view on the Douro and Porto. There are a few tourist shops before reaching the bridge, the houses look a bit dilapidated.

What a feat of engineering! The view from the top of the bridge can not be described but needs to be experienced.

nice to walk on the lower level of the bridge, and then come back on the higher level, climb is a bit steep.
