Small but so much to see and enjoy
Although this cathedral is small, it is elaborately decorated and there are a number of side chapels as well as the attractive cloisters and tower. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit even though it was somewhat rushed. We don't think you'll be disappointed.

    Nice cultural visit
Nice place to visit when looking for something cultural to do in the city. Entrance price is low and the cathedral itself is very impressive inside as well as having iconic blue tiles. Downside was that there were a lot of steps to get up to the towers, not that helpful for step free accessibility.

    Amazing
It is simply a beauty of the city of Porto. You can visit inside, you can spend some time outside and check the river Ribeira from the top. You can walk from the narrow streets of Porto from Cathedral to the river. The architecture is amazing. It is simply beautiful and excellent. Don’t miss it.

Perched high up it has great views of the river from the outside. You can visit inside, there is an entry fee plus long queues. You can walk from the Cathedral to the river. The architecture is beautiful. Don’t miss it.

    The Se
Spent 90 minutes or so around the cathedral. We'd discovered the previous day that queues begin to form unless you're there at the start of the day. The cloisters at that point were peaceful, but I guess it fills up quickly. Great views from the top.

    Breathtaking
Beautiful place to visit, highly recommend. The walk leading up to the Cathedral is very picturesque and when the Cathedral comes into view it is breathtaking. Would buy tickets in advance online though, we did and worked out cheaper than buying on site

Stunning Cathedral with interior patio, look out and just breath taking art...
One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever visited! I just love it so much!! Pay to go in because you will regret it if you don't. It is just so beautiful outside and inside, the interior patio, the look out, the cathedral itself, the "museum" part of it!! Enjoy my pictures and check out all my other reviews in Porto on this my third visit! One of two weeks discovering Porto! Planforamiracle.com

    A breathtaking experience.
The most majestic and impressive sight in Porto with its imposing facade and spectacular views across the city and as far as the Atlantic coast. The nave and altar are richly decorated and I would have loved to hear the organ in full flow. Have a wander out round the cloisters, popping in and out of each door as you find it. And pop a coin or two in the charity box while you’re at it.

    Wonderful cathedral
There are so many important and impressive architectual masterpieces in Porto. And this Roman Catholic church is surely one of them. Sitting on top of the city, not far from the equally impressive Ponte Dom Luis I. The building of the present cathedral began in the second half of the 12th century. And was only fully completed in 1737. Due to the long construction, the cathedral is a very unique one in architecture and desigsn. Combining Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles. It is definitely a stunner and also offers great views here from the top of the hill. There weren't that many visitors that day. Most of the flocked to the Ponte Dom Luis I it seemed. But both sights equally interesting and impressive.

Cathedral ... less ornate than most.
Looking for a place to duck out of the rain, we climbed the hill to the Porto Cathedral. We were surprised that they charged an admission; most churches let you in for a donation, or no donation at all, but here each person paid 3 Euro to enter. Interesting architecture, lots of open-air spaces and covered walkways opening to a courtyard, there weren't many artifacts or relics to review. Still, it was in out of the rain, and only coast 3 Euros each ... so I'd say it was fair.

Need to buy a ticket costing €5 just to visit and pray. That's salvation for the Lisbon Cathedral. Maybe there was a mistake, but I specifically asked the male teller of we should pay to pray (pointing at the pews), bad experience. I hope they fix this soon.

I was rushed for time so didn't pay the fee to enter the cathedral, but I understand the interior has some excellent tiles typical of Porto. The cathedral is relatively small and the exterior is nothing outstanding.

Long queue to get in. Not very impressive from outside, beautiful blue tiling within. Build myself is OK. Visit only if you’re in the area already. Currently has construction outside

Stopped here on our tuk tuk tour but didn't go in--the lines for entry were too long and we were running out of time. Great views of the Douro and the surrounding old town as well as the opposite shore in Gaia. Next time will try to go in.

Beautiful experience inside and out. Only 81 steps to top of tower for great views, amazing painted tile work, some of the coolest cloisters we’ve seen! Bonus, organist played the entire visit

Loved the inner blue tiled inner
Courtyard , the tower
View and the peaceful chapel. We spent a significant time here inside and out early one mourning , just enjoying live musical performers outside , taking in views ..we saw Camino pilgrims .. the blue and white tiles are so well preserved , some of the shapes of the stone are reminiscent of dogges palace in Venice . We walked down through the neighborhood to the waterfront..quite steep but very local and charming.

The inside is nicer than the outside. May, 2024 and there is construction work going on outside so part of the Cathedral view was obstructed. Nice views of Porto at the top. Line was long to go in but moves really quickly. Like stepping back in time inside. I bought a combination ticket which included the Cathedral and The Bishop's Palace (Paço Episcopal) right next to it. Was worth it.

Absolutely worth the 3 euro. What an amazing historical site. To experience the tower you will need to climb lots of steps. Church inside was stunning

This is a must stop for Porto visitors. The 3 euro ticket includes entry to the beautiful church, the cloister and tower. The cloister walls are covered with beautiful azulejos, or blue tiles. Those starting the Portuguese Camino de Santiago can also buy the pilgrim passport and the symbolic shell of the pilgrims.

The cathedral is beautiful. However 2 ladies working there, one selling the tickets and another hurrying tourists out of the tower were very rude. It’s near the end of the day and I understand that they might be tired but should they show patience, if not love, to people who go to admire the church?
