This little museum is often missed in the hustle and bustle of the main tourist district of Porto. The building itself is historic, the birth place of Henry the Navigator. The displays tell the story of the building, Portuguese exploration, and of Porto. All displays are labeled in English and Portuguese. It is a small museum, but well worth an... More

A compact but informative museum with English captions as well as Portuguese. It gives a good insight to the building itself - which was used as a customs House and coin mint, and also the growth and development of the city of Porto from Roman times onwards. A lot of the exhibits seem very new, with some audio-visual and interactive... More

* This museum was the old Customs House of Porto, and is built on the remains of a Roman house (the few remaining parts to be admired inside). It has a nice fusion of classic and modern architecture (see photo). * Not all of the many things on display and the abundance of information panels might interest you, but there's... More

Not much to see that confirms that this was lived in by Henry. Just a beautiful building of interest for the period. If you are in the area, well worth popping in for half an hour.

I enjoyed this museum, specially the information about the Customs House. The place is central and not busy at all, has a modest entry fee of €2.50 and kids go free. I liked the way the roman mosaic floor was displayed and there was enough information about exploration as well. Perfect 1-2 hour visit.

A nice surprise tucked away inside a historical building only a stones throw from the waterfront. Lots of information about the history of Portugal and Porto in general focusing on their exploits as explorers and colonialists as well as touching on the past uses of the premises itself. Certainly worth an hour or more of your time pottering around out... More

Nice place and average design. Too much information and many signs to read and learn from. No audiu guide. I didn't find anything astonishing and above average. I won't highly recommended it and for short visit I would recommend to ignore it.

A very nice old building, earlier this was the costums house of Porto. Today there is a museum dedicated to the history of Porto from the Romans. It is a very good overview about the whol history, and you can learn a lot.
