A train station like no other
The Sao Bento train station is breathtaking! The tiles are a sight to behold, truly stunning. In addition, we found it very easy and uncomplicated to purchase tickets to the city of Braga. There is a wonderful fruit stand inside the station, where we stopped several times for delicious grapes and fresh orange juice. It is a must-see!

    Gorgeous
Our Sandeman’s walking tour guide called it “a 20,000 piece puzzle”! He pointed out a few areas where mistakes were visible, if you knew what to look for. A bust train station and beautiful example of tile work!

    Nice Station
Not a very old station, but nicely decorated out. The pictures in the grand hall are the thing to see, as the tracks go into a tunnel very quickly. Always busy. Mostly local trains or at least that is what the board says.

Central train station adorned with azulejos
The azulejos must be seen to be fully appreciated. The train service is great for regional trips, and the station is easy to navigate. It also has a nice cafe. Centrally located, from the station you can see all the best sights of Porto.

Beautiful Railway Station, but Lots of Construction Underway
This is a beautiful, central rail station in Porto with elaborate tile work inside. We were there on a Thursday morning and the place was packed with numerous Viking Cruises tour groups, so it was a little tight. Be warned, there is extensive construction in the front of the station, so it can be challenging to get to. But it's worth the effort to visit.

Interesting and attractive piece of living history
Everyone visiting Porto is likely to come here to admire the building and it is also a working train station so expect it to be crowded. Even so, as much of what is to be admired is above head height, you should get a good view regardless of the crowd. While we were there, a small team of conservators was cleaning the azulejos. There's no reason to miss this site.

    Great Station
Beautiful station. Upon entering there are superb mosaics. The station itself has several platforms surrounded by gorgeous terraces, plus internal rooms with foliage all ending in a tunnel where the trains start their journeys. It must be one of the few world stations where people go to see the station rather than catch a train.

    Cool station
We were on a half day tour and our guide took us here. He was able to explain all the different scenes on the station walls. The tiles are so cool to see, and yes, it's a very busy train station. It's definitely worth a look!

    A metro station with heart
We arrived at sao bento station from campanha station. It was a simple station and shirt ride to the heart of the historic district. The railway is under construction until 2024 but the station is beautiful. The foot paths around the construction were easy to navigate once done a few times. The tiles while post WW2, feel older and depict the history and story of thus culture. A fun stop for us and took about 30 min

    Beautiful azulejos
It’s a regular railway station, but the interior is very unusual for people - the walls are decorated with azulejos. These pictures show some historical periods of Portugal. We visited this place with a tour, that’s why we knew some historical information behind it. If you’re walking around Porto alone, it doesn’t matter - I think it’s a must visit place in Porto.

Wow, wow wow! It is definitely the most beautiful railway station I've ever seen. It is incredible that it was all painted by just one person! And the attention to detail is unbelievable! It is weird to recommend a visit to a train station, but this is a must must must see. But also you have to be careful there because there is always a lot of people there, tourists and the ones traveling with train.

Nice spot to see beautiful tiles for free, but very crowded (which obviously makes sense because it’s an active train station). Worth a 5 minute pit stop.

This is a must if you enjoy art as the art depicted on the many hundreds of tiles is truly a sight to behold. Although, lots of people visiting it did not feel to crowded and you could take a few minutes to look around properly.

Inside you can find a lot of Portuguese tiles, which is amazing to see. However, some of them are covered with see through fabric to protect from the sun. The place is a little bit loud as it is full of tourists. Besides that, it's worth going to take a look at the inside of this building.

We caught a glimpse of the decorations when passing and popped inside. The station hallway interior has some lovely tiled pictures and is well worth a detour (not to mention being free to view). When we visited there was a fashion shoot happening, adding to the experience.

As recommended on TripAdvisor, we found this as something to go and view. It's in the centre of town, so it's easy to find and pop in and have a look.
Absolutely stunning station! Well worth a visit. Beautiful tiled walls, toilets, coffee shop, money exchange and just a lovely station.
We travelled the following day to Braga (return) for 3.5 euros each!
Braga is a must to visit from here with a view to seeing Bom Jesus Do Monte!!
I'll do a review on this.

Amazing? Yeah, its iconic blue tile walls are special, but likely over hyped. We visited late in the afternoon with less tourist crowds allowing for good photos. We travelled on a group tour to Porto, but did this train station independently, (less recommended by guide) timing it together with the Porto boat tour, bridge walks, port cellar & tasting and Mercado market. Surely nice to see the train station if your in the area, but would not be a "must see" moment.

This was listed as a must do inthe tour guide and, as anadded benefit, was also free to enter. Was it worth the hype? Maybe, but it's best to tie it in with another attraction rather than make a specific journey,

Arguably one of the most beautiful train station in Portugal. Not only the tiles in the main hall, even the train platform is beautiful. Excellent for photos.
