Memorializing one of the world's great explorers, the monument is near several other highlights on a tour of old town Porto. The Palacio Bolsa, the Ribeira, and classic tram line are all close and worth a visit. We snapped a great photo of "Henry" with a unique cap--a large sea gull perched on his head!!!

Located just up from the river, is this lovely park, on a slope, that has a statue as its centre piece of Henry the Navigator.

This sloping garden does not really tempt you to walk out onto the lawn - so it is not so much a public park as mere decoration and backdrop to the surroundings and the monument.

The square/garden is strategically situated next to the Bolsa Palace, below a covered market and there are several churches and museums in the surroundings.

The monument in its center displays the statue of Prince Henry known as the Navigator who was born in a small street just at the south of the square - the Casa do Infante which is now a museum (well worth visiting!).

The area was previously part of a convent of Dominicans; with the abolishment of religious orders in 1834 it was converted into the garden located in the center of modern monumental buildings of the late 19th century.

Pretty park in the center of old Porto and a must stop on your walking tour. Surrounding the park are historic buildings the Palácio da Bolsa, a 19th century architectural masterpiece, and the old Mercado Ferreira Borges.

A small but nice park by the beautiful Palacio da Bolsa. It is located at the end of Rua Mouzinho da Silveira. A great place to relax very close to Ribeira. Excellent garden, well situated and well kept. Worth a visit I recommend it.

This is really more a square than gardens, whose centrepiece is a statue of Prince Henry the Navigator. The statue sits proudly near the Ribeira district among other historic buildings.

Lovely expanse of greenery in front of the Palacio da Bolsa, more like a manicured lawn actually.
It's dominated by the elegant statue of the 14th century explorer Henry The Navigator who I remember learning about in school as bring an Intrepid seafarer who explored south along tbe coast of Africa as far as Cape Bojador, further than anyone had before him.
Anyway, a lovely garden park in the heart of a busy past of the city and well worth a stop.

These gardens are named after Prince Henry the Navigator (1394–1460) depicted in the elevated statue – a leader in the Age of Discoveries and pioneer of the caravel (a small, fast ship), who braved the battering Atlantic in search of colonies for Portugal's collection.

The Palacio da Bolsa faces the square and the Cais da Ribeira is just a short walk away.
