For the History Buffs

You can only visit via a guided tour, but this certainly was well worth it. Our guide was a font of knowledge on the building, Portuguese history and culture.

Interesting place to visit, especially the "arabic inspired room" with prestigious "bling bling" decoration. Don't forget to taste "vino" on the groundfloor , no entrance fee here, but for a few Euros you get samples and good information, for example one glass of sparkling white "vino spumante" for 1 Euro :)

Hands down to one of the most beautiful designed/decorated buildings I've been to. (and I've been to quite a lot of them). Guided tour are very nice and each room impresses you more and more along the visit.

It's worth a visit. You must follow the guided tour and the guide's quite nice, not too long to make you bored, but still informative. Be sure to check out the combo ticket, it's cheaper to buy the combo set which includes the Port wine tour.

This lovely building is full of surprises. The tour shows you some extraordinary plasterwork and marquetry, finishing off with the incredibly ornate Arab room. After that you can retire to the wine tasting room and get gradually drunk tasting 10 or so excellent local wines! Great place!

A place where you can learn about all the people who invested in the city to make it what it is today, to see the different architecture from over the years presented in the rooms. The elgance in some of the rooms is breathtaking. The stories that it holds of partnership between countries. So much to see and so much... More

In going through all the Portuguese palaces in Sintra, Lisbon, and Porto, nothing rivals the incredible workmanship and elegance of this building in the entire country. I don't think that anyone would argue with this. Not what I expected to find in Porto. However, the interior of this building is late 19th century or early 20th century and thus does... More

Go early to book English guide or you may get Portuguese or Spanish language instead. The Arab room is for last in the tour...

Took a guided tour of the former stock exchange building and it was very mediocre. The tour was given in both English and Portuguese so it took about 40min total. We were also the last group of the day so don't know if that had any impact on the guide. She was nice, but the facts givens were all that... More
