I think many people forego Sameiro, in favour of Bom Jesus. Perhaps it isn't as spectacular but it's worth a visit nonetheless. It faces the same direction, west, so read my review on Bom Jesus for photography advice. If you catch a bus up, hang...More

Huge church in the traditional style. The tree statues on pillars (all men) are Portugese saints. Said to have been the original headquarters of the Catholic church in Portugal. Well worth a visit.

This place has a nice view over the city and the surroundings. You can even see the sea when it's clear. I would recommend this if you want to see cathedrals and Roman Catholic history in Portugal of the XX Century.

Is quit nice but I "saw" the blood of the pope and I think is fake. I dont know if there ia really a blood or if is just empty. But the place is quit beautiful and the view is incredible.

This temple is located near Bom Jesus in the same mountain, so it´s obvious that one would combine two visits. The location itself is wonderful too, with beautiful views, but I agree with other reviews that the temple more impressive than beautiful in my personal...More

We were told to visit this 2nd only to Fatima among Portuguese shrines. Stunningly beautiful 19th century church erected in honor of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. All in excellent repair. 2 Euro to climb the dome for magnificent views of the...More

In here, you have the best view of the city and also one of the best churches, located very high in the mount. When the bells ring, you can hear a very beautiful melody.

Great religios site to see. There is also a relic of Pope John Paul II. Accordant to the local, this site is as important as Fatima. You can fill the serenity.
