This was such an impressive sanctuary, with the zig-zag steps and landings leading so far uphill to the church. Looking up from the bottom was kind of funny, watching the people busily navigating the levels, like a video game! This made a pleasant stop in...More

Straight from the train station in Braga, you can hop on a local bus that will take you to Bom Jesus in about twenty minutes; then the adventure begins. I believe there are almost eight hundred stairs that zig zag up the mountainside to the...More

Despite the rain, it was worth the walk and bus to see this feature. Whether one is religious or not, the architecture makes a visit really worthwhile. The nata in the cafe are good, as well.

This is stunning, we drove to the top and explored the church. There is a trolley car going up and beside the steps that worked via counterbalance. The views from the road were stunning too.

Amazing church with amazing view. You have to see it. The weather should be sunny though because it contains a long walk.

A beautiful reward awaits after the climb up. Higher up chapels on both sides. Take water along an a warm day, drinking the fountain water is not advisable. Trip down through the woods refreshing. Worth every step!

Yes. We took a taxi and ordered one to pick us up. Ask the driver for the drop off address so you can ring / book another to pick you up. If you don’t book a taxi, you’ll have to wait for a taxi dropping off visitors. It’s a... More
