Walked up the this Church on Easter Sunday evening & had a look around. Imressive inside & well kept. I'm So Grateful Jesus Died & Rose again & forgave my sin. I think places like this are a historic reminder of this. The bell tower was open for anyone to walk up, A great view.

A small old Church , THE Climb is worth THE bay view and THE interior has THE burriel chapel of Karel 1, last emperor of austria who lived here with his wife Zita and their children.

In my opinion the best bit about visiting this church is standing below it and watching all the wicker baskets bring launched down the hill toward Funchal with tourists wearing expressions ranging from delight to sheer terror!

A must see if in Madeira. We took the cable car from Funchal which takes about 15-20 minutes skimming over the rooftops of the city. The view from the Cathedral is awesome with the entire city in view including the harbor & out to sea. Sometimes the clouds roll in but clear soon after again. The inside of the church... More

This is a typical church. It is not as over the top as some catholic churches. I suspect it's a welcome cool spot when the island hots up. Worth climbing the steps up and having a quick look around. No money lenders or sellers her (ie they don't charge for entry).
