This large saltwater Lido complex is a short stroll from our hotel and according to the plaque outside, was opened in 2016. From the jetty area you can also swim in the sea. Entry prices are just over 5e per adult and under 2e for over 65s - however, there is an extra charge for sunbeds/parasols but can be included in a combi ticket. All kept clean and lifeguards are on duty to ensure safety. If you just want to swim in the sea then I noticed a spot just round the corner which also had a lifeguard on duty when I walked past and I think it’s free.

Nice place with salty swimming pool and good access to the ocean via ladders and steps. Wonderful helpful staff! I accidentally dropped my glasses into the ocean when diving - from 6-7 meters depth a modest diving life guard managed to find them for me!!

Visited the lido this afternoon with partner and 9 year old son. It was reasonably priced, well staffed clean and safe (lots of lifeguards) The complex consists of a massive sea water pool, a roped off area of open sea with a floating pontoon, a springboard into the sea and an aqua adventure section with some 'ninja warrier' style inflatables. Yes it was busy but we still got a bed and sunshade (small extra cost) despite turning up mid afternoon. Nice mix of people - locals, tourists old and young. We heard accents ranging from French to Welsh. Well worth a visit.

Spent the afternoon here. It was quite expensive to enter considering we then had to pay extra to use sunbeds and parasols. However there were plenty of lifeguards, and the place seemed very clean. Cafe had fast service, food was ok. Pool was saltwater which was a surprise to the children but they were ok about it. If you want to go on the inflatable course it’s €4 pp extra.

Madeira is famous for weather, flowers and no beaches!! But it does have sea water pools on the oceans edge (Atlantic that is). One of the oldest and most fun is the Lido in Funchal. It is a hot spot for the locals to tan (and pose) and is a series of platforms surrounding a large pool that is fed by the waves at high tide. There is also a cafe, bar, and lots of lifeguards. Ocean side there are diving platforms pontoon and access to swim in the ocean in a roped off area. Getting towards high tide, they monitored the waves coming in and managed safety very well so this is recommended even for children. Entry is 5€ each or 12.50€ for 2 adults, 2 sunless and a parasol, no time limit, so we had most of the day there. Don't have young children, so didn't notice kids price. Parking is close by as well as one of the best ice cream shops I have been to (but that's another review). Had a great day and will go back.
