We heard a lot of people skip this when they are short of time in Sintra, one of the lesser known palaces. I would not skip this, I would mark this as a must. the Architecture and design was beautiful and essentially a hidden gem...More
Monserrate has numerous trails and various themed gardens to explore including a Fern Valley, Mexican garden, and the grounds themselves. The palace is also beautiful as it has been restored in the past years. Very much worth a visit.
The Monserrate is a beautiful building and with a massive ground. We walked thru the gardens but not much to see however the grass field on the side of the building was soothing and it's a nice place to sit and relax.
Although Monserrate Palace and park is a little further out of Sintra than some of the other attractions it is definitely not to be missed. The palace is beautiful and has an interesting and varied history that is explained well through a number of displays....More

Hi thank you for your question. We used the Bus 417 to Cascais via Estorill - Approx 30mins. There is another bus (not sure of number catch outside of train station) that takes you to Cascais via Cabot De Rocha, this is amazing, fantastic scenery. Total journey about an hour. Cabot De Rocha is well worth a visit so maybe a day pass would be better. Also sunset at Cabot is awesome. You can get Tuc Tuc these are fun but work out quite expensive. See your options for travel passes etc - although the transport network is very reasonable.
