Take time to ramble- don't get caught up in the maddening crowds as they take no time over anything and see very little- especially avoid bus tour groups- yuck.

We got here inspired by photos found on the internet and what we found is a little piece of paradise between the mountains. The castle decoration are extraordinary as the garden's variety of plants an small streams and lakes crossing it. It's a place where...More

Monserrate has numerous trails and various themed gardens to explore including a Fern Valley, Mexican garden, and the grounds themselves. The palace is also beautiful as it has been restored in the past years. Very much worth a visit.

The Monserrate is a beautiful building and with a massive ground. We walked thru the gardens but not much to see however the grass field on the side of the building was soothing and it's a nice place to sit and relax.

The gardens and the palace are stunning! Wear good walking shoes because the terrain is very hilly and slick when wet. This is what fairy tales are made of!

I’m not sure why other Sintra attractions hold such sway with Aussie visitors yet I rarely hear fellow travellers talk about Monserrate Palace. Here’s a tip: if ever you find yourself in Sintra, you simply MUST visit this attraction; both the palace and the gardens....More

The Palace is very well worth a visit. The building is most impressive & the grounds vast although there are several steep paths to climb/ descend. cafe on site is served by friendly staff.
