It was hard to find but worth it.The original tram and track, it goes along side the road and in parts between houses and thru the centre of a small town.

If you want to stand like packed herrings in 35 degrees go for it! Otherwise walking beside the tram in same speed is much more entertaining and you actually get to see things around you.

We were there mid-September. On a Sunday afternoon we took the tram to the beach and took the bus back. While I did enjoy the tram, it was noisy as advertised. There was nothing to really see/do at the beach end other than perhaps eat/drink. I'm glad our guest house told us we could take the bus back. The bus,... More

went to lisbon for a day last week. Highly recommended the old tram ride. What a disappointment. Cued for nearly 2 hours to get on the tram - on the shady side of the street. No information from tram representative at all. Tram came. nearly 2 hours later still on tram. Traffic jam after traffic jam. No word as to... More

The Sintra tram runs from Sintra (new town, next to the Museum of Modern Art) to Praia das Maçãs, two beaches along from Praia Grande. The trip takes about 45 minutes. In good weather the open sided trams are used, in worse weather there are closed in ones. It costs around 3 Euros each way; in Praia buy them from... More

The tram journey is fun and you get to see quite a lot of places. It is open from sides and gets a good view of all that is happening around.

Sintra trams go to one destination on the coast, Praia de Macas. The team journey is full of screechy brake noise and bends filled with sway! The open carriage is glorious fun in bright sunshine in summer but only at weekends. The tram terminus, is end of the line, is a ten minute walk from the station (downhill, kinda) the... More

The most ancient Portuguese Beach tram, from sintra to Praia das Maçãs (the Portuguese Scheveningen). Very popular and traditional among Sintra's and Lisbon's people. the tram starts in Sintra and went down trough valley on the direction of the sea to praia das maçãs (beach of apples)

Sintra - Praia das Macas tram gives you a "jump in the past experience" but I prefere the tram 28 from Lisbon. I cannot say which is more authentic but the Sintra tram is not good on a windy day and it screeches terribly. Strong nerves are needed ! You are closer to the nature than in to the bus... More

we took the tram with the kids to go to Praia das Maçâs and we loved it. it's taking time to do a small trip down to the beach. the only problem has been that there was no other tram to go back, we couldn't stay at the beach, we had to go back immediately. but, we liked it a... More
