Beautiful beach!!! The day we went there, the winds were too high for any water activities but we chilled and relaxed by the water. Its clean. We rented a few lounge chairs and ate by the shack. The views were lovely!
The walk from parking lot to beach was quite long.

There are different roads between Sesimbra and Setubal, one of them winds along the coast, along some rather high and steep cliffs. The landscape is breathtaking, especially on a sunny day: the dense vegetation of the Arrabida, the cream color of the small beaches, the turquoise of the sea and the strong blue color of the sky make a beautiful scenery. It is easy to go from Sesimbra to Setubal, but the return is not that easy as there are no signs to be found along the road, first to get out of Setubal, second to chose the right road to Sesimbra. And do not count on the indications provided by passersby: they were very few and not informed. Better use a GPS!

This is a warning for all tourists with a rental car! All rental cars are recognised by their numberplates!!! Thieves know that.
We went to Arrabida National Park. The environment was fantastic. We stopped at the beach on road 379-1 near Figuerinha. While we were on the beach for a moment our rental car, a Nissan Micra was opened with a screwdriver. Our luggage, two camerabags with Canon gear, mobile phone and a lot of personal stuff was robbed.Even my shoes!
According to a security officer the coast north and south of Lissabon ( Guincho surfbeach to Setubal) is the most criminal part of Portugal.
I know it is stupid, but Portugal seemed to be a nice and friendly place.
This is a reason not to go back to Portugal.
So take care in the National Park and take everything with you.
The police in Setubal was not very cooperative. Because of our missing credit and paycard we want to make a phonecall to the bank. This was impossible!!

We drove from Sesimbra to Arrabida Natural Park today. There are some stunning views along the way and we stopped at 2 viewpoints to take photos. Both times we locked the car. We went up the hill about 50 ft. and were gone 3 to 4 minutes and the car was out of our view about half that time. When we returned we found that the lock had been broken, my purse (ALL credit cards, passport etc), binoculars, vest, Garmin GPS and a couple of bags with miscellaneous items were all gone. Luckily they didn't take my husband's coat in the back seat; his passport was in the pocket. We were gone such a short time and never heard a thing. There were 2 other cars also parked there. We looked to see if their locks had the same damage as ours and they didn’t. When we returned to our rented aparthotel the neighbors told us when they recently went to Arrabida Natural Park they saw a whole row of vehicles in the car park with broken windows, When we filed a police report they said the thieves often drill a hole right by the door lock and use a cable to unlock the door. When we called the passport office she warned us that Barcelona (the city we fly home from) is notorious for passport thefts.

We just had a 15 min stop here to walk up to a mirador and when we came back to our car our window was broken in and our luggage was stolen. When we tried to call the Police, they didnt speak english or spanish, so we had to find someone to translate. The Police wouldnt Come to us, but we had to drive there with our broken car. Then the Police let us fill out some forms, but said there is nothing much they can do because the area is so big and they cant send patrols there.
When we stood there and called the Police another couple came back from the mirador and they said it happened to them last year as well and when i looked around on the ground, there were several places with broken glass on the ground, which means they must break in there quite often. And the Police seems to Put no effort into stopping this.
So for me, i would Not recommend going there or at least to leave NOTHING in the car.

If you're a tourist passing by and heard about the magnificent beaches of Setubal, prepare yourself for some disappointment. It's not that the beaches themselves and the mountain in the surroundings aren't beautiful, the problem is the sheer dificulty in accessing them. The last couple of weeks, anccording to some residents with whom I've spoken, the City Hall decided to forbid all cars from circulating in the stretch of road nearby the beaches (although allowing motorcycles to pass through, how narrow minded is that decision?). This means that if you want to pass through just for scenic purposes, without parking or going to the beaches, well, you can't, unless you go on foot or rent a bike! If you have children (mine are ages 8 and 10) I wouldn't recomend it, since there's a sharp slope awaiting and the temperatures in this region are usually around 30 - 35 degrees celcius (about 86 - 95 F). In this 2 miles stretch (about 3km) only some sort of shutles and paid buses are allowed. They have some sort of barricade with two police officers controling it, at each end. The parking spaces are paid, starting on the 1st of July but they're about two hundred slots (tops), rather insufficient I might add. The buses operating that area lack information about price and timetable near the bus stops. Talked to an elderly couple which was waiting for it under the sun, they told me that this bus solution isn't reliable altogether and quite expensive (about £14 or 19 US dls for a family of four/day). There are other parking alternatives far from the beaches that are less expensive, but you'll be obligated to take the bus anyway. The last bus departs from Figeirinha beach at 7PM and that is unacceptable, as I like to stay on the beach to watch the sunset and my white skin is no match for the locals tan, so I always go to the beach around mid afternoon. My kids were expecting to go to the beach so I decided to go to Troia, on the other side of the river and despiste being more expensive, it really paid off! There's an incredible beach, with fine white sand, also a marina, casino, hotels and the boat trip is about 10 minutes. I already forgot Setúbal and its little accessible beaches. Troia rules!

It´s a beauty of nature considered as a seven wonderful beach in Portugal.
The sea up in hill it´s so blue (sea), green (nature), and so high!
The beach is so beautiful, with calm sea, so nice to spend a week or two.
Its near Setúbal a big city, very pitoresc too. No far from Lisboa.
Came and see if am i right :)

Leaving Setúbal towards Sesimbra visiting Serra da Arrábida is something nobody shoud miss when visiting Portugal. Two ways are possible. The road along the sado river with a few stops that are mandatory for a full apreciation of the scenery. The beaches are wonderful, with a blue see throu water. Figueirinha, Praia dos Coelhos, Galapos , Galapinhos e Portinho da Arrábida, before geting to Sesimbra. On the way back, pick the mountain road, with a dazzling view for miles from troia to Comporta and far beyond, on the other bank of the Sado river. A visit to the old monastery of Arrábida is also something to be done.

The drive along the N 379 is beautiful. Once you get down to the coastal road to Portinho do Arribada, be aware that the road is closed just after this location during summer holidays (august 2018). So you can get as far as Creiro Beach but if you want to get to Figuerinha Beach, you'll need to come from the other side (Outao). I parked my car coming into Portinho da Arribada and from there on it was an easy walk for about 20 or 30 minutes (downhill - There is a free shuttle that'll take you as far as Portinho itself, and from there on it's a nice 10 minutes walk to Creiro Beach). Easy, but remember you'll have to do it uphill to get back. I rented a space on the beach with chairs and a 'parasol' for 15 Euro for the whole day. Nice beach. No surf. Clear water. Ideal with kids / teenagers. Bars and restaurants. Friendly people... Relax relax... Be aware: the sun sets earlier here because of the beautiful mountains behind the beach, so after 7 or so, it can get a bit chilly...

Bom dia aqui de Lisboa,Odyssey como deve de compreender é uma pergunta ao qual não sei responder, mas a nível mundial estão a ser extintos em todos os locais do globo até restar-mos só nós humanos.

Will the park be accessible on Christmas Day? I couldn't find anything on the website. Also - what are the options without renting a car to get there from Lisbon? thank you!

You will have access to the park on Christmas day...there is no fee to get in its just a big wildlife area with hiking and great views of the ocean.we hired easy love tours to take us there for the day. They offer private tours for a reasonable rate and are very accommodating, but I don't know if they operate on Christmas day. If you enjoy hiking and the outdoors definitely take time to visit!!!

Hugo
