This steep hill street is pedestrian and is full of tourists walking, pausing and looking. Lots of high end shopping and it is evolving to even more as time goes by. Ice cream, a little food, and the elevator overhead. Nice walk downhill. Some buskers.

Very steep hill so a little hard to walk in either direction. At one end, the sublime Carmo Square with nice cafes, at the other end, the cool shopping of Chiado. Along the way, some nice stores.

Rua do Carmo is not a long street, on the contrary, it's rather short. However it must be one of the most popular in Lisbon. It is full of shops of all descriptions, ranging from cafes, restaurants and patisseries, to fashion boutiques and even more fashion stores, souvenir shops and you name it, it's there. It's sort of upmarket, but accessible to all. It's great to take a walk up and down the street and just enjoy the atmosphere. You should also stop at a cafe and have a cup of coffee and watch the world go by.

On a hill, but worth the hike, shops on either side, of a cobbled stone street. Well worth a visit, if your in the area.

Rua do Carmo is a delightful walking street in the middle of Lisbon. There are many shops on both sides of the wide cobblestone street. Some of the stores have been there forever and some are newer, contemporary stores. There are street vendors and musicians all along the street. The people seem genuinely happy to be walking up and down the hill - and it is a hill, but very walkable. At the top of the hill is a major shopping center and if you turn right you will go up another series of hills to more shopping and quiet squares.

Some shopping and eating along the way as you climb up to the lovely Largo do Carmo. Hold on to your bags as there are gypsy thieves about.

Shops along this very short street leading to the fabulous Largo do Carmo. Mostly for tourists. Beware the gypsies who try to grab bags...they look like regular young women!

This is one of the many streets in City Center that you don't actually try to find, but probably still end up here. Pedestrian only, so nice to have a little walk and drop by to one of many shops. Famous St. Justa elevator is also near
