As we walked up the hill toward the Gloiai Elevator, we came across this church. Nice interior. Beggar on the steps outside the church, but not agressive.

A pretty big church, with an immaculate white façade(a common thing on Lisbon's churches) placed across the street from Camoes square. Not the most beautiful church in Lisbon but worth a short visit if if you get around.

Not a religious person but I like architecture. For me it was a really nice building. There was a service going on so didn't hang about inside.

Since the main church had construction works we attended a weekday mass in the sacristy, which turned out to be even more surprising.

The church was built primarily to welcome many Italians in the city (hence its nickname “Church of the Italians”). It was severely damaged in the earthquake and rebuilt in 1785. It consists of a central nave and twelve chapels representing the twelve apostles.

You can easily recognize this church thanks to the odd staircase in front of it. The church's interior is lovely with some beautiful painting and sculptures. We could not take photos inside, though, as there was a service going on during our visit.

As many churches in the portuguese capital city, this is a nicely decorated and very well kept buiding in one of the hearts of the city. Bright, nice altar and worth visiting.
