About
Once an old industrial textile complex, LX Factory is now home to Lisbon’s trendiest restaurants, bars, and shops. Located beneath the Ponte de 25 Abril Bridge, the revitalized hotspot resembles a village where you can walk down cobbled streets and admire the street art adorning the walls of old warehouses. Here, you can dine in a former industrial canteen, shop at a multi-story bookstore, watch artists at work in their ateliers and studios, catch a live performance or exhibition, and more. On the weekend, stop by the open-air flea market which sells everything from handmade jewelry to vintage clothing. – Tripadvisor

- Hannah SLondon, United Kingdom78 contributionsFun night outWe absolutely love Lx Factory - we come back every time we are in Lisbon. This time we ate at Matchamama and had a delightful meal, especially welcome after a long day at a conference. The food was tasty and wine lovely, all very reasonable. We then had a nice walk around, and went ax throwing at the American bar. I recommend this for anyone visiting Lisbon for a fun night out. There are so many bars and restaurants we have yet to try!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 October 2023
- Thomas VOakland, California18,839 contributionsReclaimed Industrial AreaThis old warehouse and industrial area has been reclaimed years ago and turned into an eating, drinking, and shopping mecca. You can get here easily on the tram. My favorite part is the excellent and very cool book store. But I also had a good cold drink at a nice spot. Can be very busy and crowded especially on the weekend.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 November 2023
- Joe TChicago, Illinois70 contributionsTrendy market worth a visit and a mealTrendy market in an old/repurposed industrial area of Lisbon. Little shops and restaurants here. We went on Sunday and there was a small makers market here as well. Worth the visit and we came here in an Uber after visiting Belem/Descobrimentos/Jeronimos since they are all in the same direction.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 December 2023
- Ines MPembroke Pines, Florida197 contributionsGreat stroll with shopping and food - for everyone! What a cute alternative place! The stores are all local and very charismatic! Come by with the whole family or just with your significant other or by yourself. The shopping is great, the food is amazing and the ambience the best! If you are into photography, this will also intrigue you! Cons: I found some of the things a bit expensive but that’s maybe just me!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 January 2024
- RainSeattleMomIssaquah, Washington522 contributionsHidden GemStopped by while taking the tram back to town after visiting Belem. It was about six pm on a Saturday night. Even though I'd read about it and seen pictures, I was still pleasantly surprised! You are walking in the middle of a normal suburban street when all of a sudden there is an amazing artistic community of restaurants and street art hidden in a back alley! It felt like entering a speakeasy. I wish there were more stores and art galleries. It was mainly restaurants. We walked around to see the street art, and ate in a fun mexican restaurant. I'm so glad we stopped by!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 January 2024
- VickyLargsLargs, United Kingdom904 contributionsIf you have time and visit alternative LisbonWe exited at tram 15 Calvario stop on our way back from the Belem area into downtown to visit LX factory, an industrial estate almost under the bridge which was turned into an art and entertainment venue. Lots of cafes and restaurants, good souvenir shops and the famous oldest bookstore is also there. Would recommend going up to a rooftop bar (just next to Cantina LX) for a couple of nice cocktails on a sunny day.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 February 2024
- Ann HYork, United Kingdom2,596 contributionsLoved this place!LX Factory is great!!! This is a vibrant cultural hub and offers the visitor a great experience on all levels. It has a mix of quirky gift shops, food outlets and art galleries. Even the graffiti is pretty! We bought some gifts, had a lovely lunch and drinks in the sun. A short tram ride from the busy centre of Lisbon, this place is certainly a place to escape.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 March 2024

- JenanJamalKuwait City, Kuwait1,971 contributionsVery IntrestingVery good place to visit during the visit of Lisbon. A little far away from the center. We went by Taxi. It has a lot of local shops and restaurants. Very interesting place to spent. The only think that is not recommended there is no taxi nearby to return to your place or to the center.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 21 April 2024
- Somersethead17 contributionsRooftop bar and the bookshop were the highlightsReally enjoyed our trip to LX Factory from Lisbon. We took the tram out from the city centre, which was very busy but doable. When we arrived our first port of call was the rooftop bar, which we loved. Had a couple of great cocktails up there watching the planes go over and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. We then wandered around the shops for a while, with the bookshop being worth the trip on its own, before taking the packed tram back to Lisbon. It was well worth the visit.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 May 2024

This is a collection of independent and sustainable stores rather than an actual district so not worth going out of your way for unless you really have a passion for the brands and want to get a flavor of the Lisboa art scene. Having said that, I loved it and suggest making the most of it by going for lunch. Fans of street art will have plenty to see, insta junkies will have lots of photo opps. Grab a coffee and brigadeiro before you leave.
On Sundays the market is worth a visit if you’ve seen Lisbon’s other sites. Bring cash and grab some local bread, chutneys and cheese to take home.
We took the bus to Calvario, it’s an easy walk from the bus stop

Coming from the Detroit area, I've spent a lot of time in re-purposed industrial spaces. LX factory had the same vibe, unfortunately we didn't really feel like it was a unique Portugal or Lisbon experience. There were independent makers and workshops on the upper floors, but the main level was dominated by overpriced generic hipster stores & restaurants. Was only an *okay* stop on our way back from Belem, wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go there.

The book store (Ler Devagar) was stunningly beautiful and an absolute highlight, but other than that there wasn't too much to see at the other stores. Stores were definitely "quirky" and "funky" and you'd have a good time if you are into the art scene but don't expect a modern concept store experience with trendy fashion items. It felt more like a Sunday market at an artsy suburb. We visited on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded.

I’m not really one for visiting museums or monuments but I do like to explore street art when I visit a city so this was right up my street. LX was at the top of my to do list and whist I’m glad we went, to be honest I kind of expected more from it. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed wandering around and stopping for a bite to eat, but it’s quite small and busy and felt a bit ‘touristy’ for what it was trying to be. Still worth a visit if you’re in the area and into the artsy scene.

Definitely a must see on the Lisbon travel bucket list! Wear good shoes and bring plenty of euros because you’re bound to find something you’ll like. Loaded with unique arts and goods, galleries, small businesses, start-up’s, cafe’s restaurants, and bars. Plenty to see and do! Outstanding two floor book store! A lot of walking involved. Prices for food, beverage, goods for sale, and the even the books, are tourist destination prices. A little steep. Except for coffee and beer. Did see some strollers, but the cobblestones aren’t even, so there was some struggling there. Not much for little ones to do per se. But plenty to see! More of an adult destination.

This is a nice place to visit. Lots of young artists showrooms in Lisbon. Place has been build at the old factory. Art is a key elements of this place, you can find cool sculptures and graffiti from the are. Easiest way to get there from city centre is to take tram 15/18.

While on a tuk tuk Eco Electric Day tour of Lisbon we mentioned to our tour guide that we had a free day on Sunday with nothing planned. We asked him what he’d recommend! Thank goodness we asked as this was truly an incredible day, such a fun place full of artisan shops, unique shops, great restaurants .. such a fun vibe too! LX Factory is open all week but only on Sundays do they have this added open market with different booths and vendors. Some very unique ideas, ceramics, jewelry , artwork and tshirts not typical of the souvenir shirts that you will find everywhere. The Sunday market opens at 10am and it’s best to be there just before it opens, before it may get crowded! It’s such a great time! Highly recommend visiting. So happy we didn’t miss it!

We enjoyed our first visit to LX Factory. We came by car and parked it in the very rough and ready car park next door to the entrance which cost 2 euros (cash only). There was plenty of parking when we arrived at early lunch time on a Saturday but by the early afternoon it was pretty full. We had a quick look round and enjoyed a great lunch at 1300 Taberna and visited a lovely brigadeiro shop and the Ler Devagar book shop. Only downside is that the loos are small and although a lady was doing a good job cleaning them up people did seem to make a lot of mess. A fun place for a different walk in Lisbon.

A really great place to spend some time after spending the day visiting Lisbon. You will find a great number original shops, bars and restaurant offering a great eperience. Some art pieces are disseminated through the place and are awaiting you.
My advices: (1) Don't miss the library. (2) Taste one of the original cockail at Rio Maravilha (yeah, you've to go up all the stairs!).
A place to visit if you are in Lisbon!

This was one of my favorite experiences in Lisbon: music + art + great food + shopping. If you can, head there after lunch and take it all in before you pick a spot for dinner. Terrific street art (that's my thing) everywhere you look, and make sure to check out the graffiti-filled bathrooms and the "Hello World" neon installation in the parking area. So much to explore and discover!

What is the price range for a not too sophisticated meal?
Written 10 August 2019
Diner around 15-25€ depending on what you like. Also nice tapas under 30. I would say average prices but don’t expect cheap meals or street food
