This food market is a bit off the tourist track but is well worth the effort to visit. Lots of varieties of food in a relaxed atmosphere at great prices. What more could you ask for

The Mercado is a bit off the tourist grid but easy to find taking the 25 or 28 tram. It had several food vendors offering everything from steaks, sushi, Italian, burgers and wine. Food was reasonable in price and we tried 4 vendors over two...More

Took Tram 28 to this area to explore. We happened to come across this place. The market has been in business since 1934 & recently redone to reflect a more modern cuisine. Various stalls selling everything from fresh fish, meats, fruits, vegetables, hot foods, alcohol...More

Very nice place to try a veritable market experience. The place is full of restaurants - not so fancy as in Mercado da Ribeira, but more close to local experience.

We went there early like 11am, it was obviously not the ideal time to visit the mercado. But you could see what was being prepared, ceviche, tartar, good beef, very good wine. Big choice of artesanal food, marmelade, honey etc. I saw there is a...More

we arrived at about 8 and it was busy and people seemed to hold on to their tables for a while. if you arrive earlier I think you would be OK. you may have to join a couple of tables together. I hope you have a good time.
