    Do enjoy a few oysters!!
I arrived a bit too late for the market hussle, a bit too soon for lunch. I waited a bit while having an iced coffee and after making my round I sat down at the oysterbar. Lovely man with lots of knowledge, open and welcoming. Do go there as he’s lovely (I ended up sitting there a long time) and more importantly: the oysters are amazing!!

    Nice variety
This market has a quite eclectic selection of foods. To put it in perspective- I had a Philly Cheese steak, my wife had a Hummus Bowl from a different stall, and my daughter had a Japanese Poke Bowl from yet another stall. I'd guess there are roughly 50-60 stalls in all with offerings from all over the world.

    Brilliant food and atmosphere
Beautiful evening on a Saturday night - lovely food choices, full of locals, live music and comfortable seating. Had sangria, bachalau, croquettes, tomato rice, olives for €30 and the atmosphere was 10/10. 100 times better than the Time Out market

Lovely local's alternative to Time Out market
We were recommended this venue by our tuktuk driver. It's a local's & family friendly alternative to Time Out. It is much smaller & not a late night venue - only open until 10pm on Friday night. However, the food was delicious, & the atmosphere friendly & relaxed. However, there aren't lots of bars etc nearby, unlike the area around Time Out; and finding a taxi nearby to take us back to our hotel was quite challenging!

    Excellent
I thoroughly enjoyed this place, which is smaller and more intimate compared to Time Out Market. It has a unique and eclectic atmosphere with a limited number of food stands and a single bar that caters to all visitors. The crowd primarily consists of locals, with only a few tourists who arrive after their tram ride. The screens showcase football matches, creating a lively atmosphere, and I appreciated the polite demeanor of everyone present. Overall, I found it to be a highly enjoyable experience.

Authentic, not yet a tourist destination
This is a small market, one full city block only but there are quite a few stalls and no tourists. We never visited Time Out in our two weeks here but visited this market twice. It was a pleasant walk from our hotel both times. Unfortunately, we visited on a Sunday afternoon and then on a Wednesday right at the opening at 10:00, so both times all the shops were not open. I would say that half of the stalls were selling groceries: vegetables, meat and fish. Among the other half there were more than one bar, a few stalls serving meals, and a cheese counter with a large selection. I am probably forgetting some. Of course there were places to sit and eat. There was one stall serving very good looking Italian dishes and we were very hungry when we passed it but we had made other plans. There is one well-reputed restaurant across the street from the market, Coelho da Rocha. We wanted to try it but ran out of time this trip. Will plan to visit next trip.

Nice local market and easy to get to.
Really nice local market away from the tourist areas. Easy to get to by bus. Had a really nice lunch and reasonable price. Nice and casual and great ambience. I suspect we were two of few tourists there as used by locals. Recommended.

Lovely local market. Disappointed that there weren’t more Portuguese eating options. Seemed mostly to be fast food. Spices stall very helpful.

Local HOMOFÓBICO/ HOMOFOBIA ALERT.

While I was attending a musical concert after having dinner at the aforementioned market, I was approached by a barmaid if I wanted any more drinks, I said no thanks.
In my naivety I thought the bar was going to close and that I was passing by the tables asking that question. But no, there were many more people without drinks who were in the place without drinks on the table. Then an elderly man addresses me in a loud voice and tells me that if I don't consume I have to go out and that I have to behave, this "bad behavior has to do with the fact that I have my arm resting on someone's shoulder." another man and we exchanged a few kisses with respect. The guy who is the father of the owner of the place called the security guard and disappeared from the scene. I called the police and filed a complaint with the authorities. Sexual discrimination is a crime in Portugal. Do not visit this place due to homophobia of the owners.

We stumbled into the Mercado after our ride to the end of the „28“! It was a terrific stop for a snack before we re embarked the train to head to s more touristy area.
