Neighbourhood: Graça & São Vicente
You can be thankful that most common travel guides don't mention Graça and São Vicente that often. Part of Lisbon's historic center and "Old Town", they feel like independent villages in the capital's center, and more untouched than Alfama. Amazing views, restaurants and parks, as well as important monuments like the S. Vicente Church and the National Pantheon, make this a spectacular option for those looking for a more tranquil walk-around in the center of Lisbon. Graça has been the choice of many younger people over the past years, both nationals and expats, given the cozy feeling of the neighborhood and its hidden secrets.

So beautiful. Pay the 5 euro and go in the roof, the view is amazing and the tourists are too cheap to pay. They also give you a free beer(!!). The tiles murals and frescos are also amazing in the part of the convent you pay to enter.

This is one of several beautiful viewpoints across the seven hills that gives you beautiful views of the city and the harbour and the bridge. It is definitely worth a stop and a few minutes to take in the sights on a sunny day.

Beautiful overlook of the city. You can see the castle, the bridge, the river, and all the lovely homes and buildings of oldtown Lisbon. One of our favorite Miradouros!

This is one of the better viewpoints in Lisbon. You can still see them, but Castelo de Sao Jorge is partly obscured by trees, and the 25 de Abril Bridge (Lisbon's Golden Gate Bridge) is barely peeking its head above the sea of tile roofs. To get here, take tram 28 and get off at the Graça / Miradouro da Graça stop. The viewpoint is about 100 meters (about 2-minute walk) away.

There are a handful of very good viewpoints (miradouros) scattered around Lisbon including this one just beside the Church of Our Lady of Grace in the Graca neighbourhood. From here there are really nice views of the west and if you look southwest you will have a very good view of St. George Castle as well.

There is a kiosk selling drinks and some tall pines at Miradouro da Graca, which is also called Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen (1919-2004), in memory of the Portuguese poet and writer who frequented this location during her lifetime.

Unfortunately, a large section of the viewing area was obscured by construction at the time I was there, so it's a temporary issue - I hope.
The fully occupied tables and chairs were set up close to the edge, so that standing right by the edge for a moment's view was uncomfortably close.

Made our way to this viewpoint as we were in the area. The view was ok but I don’t find red roof tiles particularly interesting to look at. A nice view of the castle but that’s sort of it. There’s a few spots to sit and rest however the tour guides and jewellery sellers will approach you. Google maps showed some ‘street art’ located down an alleyway and there was some decent stuff. But mostly it was rubbish graffiti, dog poo on the path and the smell of pee.

Lots of space to wander around and take in the views across the city, and plenty of walls and things to rest on if you want to stop a while. Lovely in the sunshine.

Wonderful view of the view of the city, castle, bridge, hills, and water. This smaller plaza is shaded and high above Lisbon. If you want to take great pictures of Lisbon and its main castle, this is the spot. It's just a beautiful area to observe all of Lisbon.
