This was a very insightful, guided and - best of all - free tour that lasted between 30 minutes and an hour, and taught us a lot about Baixa's history before and after the Great Earthquake. The underground sardine "factory" was fascinating, and we loved...More

Great historical site with fascinating & remarkably well preserved artifacts of Lisbon area dating from 5th-3rd B.C. to late 18th century. Unfortunately tour guide was less than friendly when interacting with visitors & at times appeared apathetic &/or confrontational towards guests when answering their questions.

This is a free site that exists under a bank not far from the Arch of Augustus and the Praca do Comercio. It's not well sign-posted but you will find it. There are English tours on Thursdays at 5 p,m, and on Saturdays. Seek this...More

This can be hard to find. It is under the Millenium BCP bank and is accessed through green doors with number 96 over them in Rua Augusta - NOT Rua dos Correeiros. That entrance is to the bank but you will be courteously diverted to...More

We stopped in to make a reservation for this tour then went for breakfast until it started. There is a phone number on the website to call. A reservation is recommended as it is not a large museum and can't take a large group. The...More

This free tour of Roman ruins underneath a modern bank building in downtown Lisbon was truly unique! The guide was very knowledgeable and informative about the rivers that once flowed where Lisbon now stands and the early settlement there by Romans and other cultures. It...More

The entrance to the attraction is not in the street that bears its name! It is in the next street and is next to the bank, which you might inadvertantly visit in an effort to find it. We were lucky and joined a tour within...More

Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply
"Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake
construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755
earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the
Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the

We didn't make a reservation but turned up at the door at the start time. There were some police outside the door saying it was closed, but we checked with the receptionist in the bank who advised us just to wait outside... More
