A great museum with a great collection and very well needed in Lisbon. It's in a great location but kind of far from the city center.

We went to the Museu do Oriente during a tour around Lisbon. This was a coffee stop, but we were also able to gain entrance. The art was wonderful and very unique

Attended a business event and the organizers provided tickets for the museum. Great idea and learned a lot - not surprising given Portuguese historical engagement in the Orient. Well worth including on any visit to the city.

While we are approaching Tower de Belem, we see Museu do Oriente on Avenida Brasilia. As such we enter to view the displays inside. Worth a visit if you have preliminary ideas on the history of Asian countries.

Totally worthed the visit. Great material and perfect explanations about the works. I recommend reserving 2 hours in order to see all.

If you come to Lisbon, you should visit this place. It is worth a visit! It has a large collection of pieces from China, Macau, Japan, Goa and former Portuguese India, East Timor, and so on.

The museum displays asian artifacts collected from mostly former Portugese colonies in the orient. Most interesting were the maps showing how much territory the Portugese held during the 15th - 18th centuries. Had an interesting collection of crucifixes, probably for export. Top floor had a...More

This museum is quite modern and is very well curated with explanations in Portuguese and English. It concentrates on the Far East however we couldn’t see anything from the Malacca area though the Portuguese were only there for 130 years, We found the Japanese collection...More
