Do you want to make a tour in Lisbon? Said to be built on 7 hills, Lisbon is an amphitheatre that looks down onto the Tagus, the river it has always depended on. There's history oozing out of its romantic avenues, old Moorish quarters, Roman underpinnings and Manueline, Baroque and Gothic monuments, off-set by some of the boldest modern buildings by local and international architects.

This is a cosmopolitan centre of commerce that will appeal to your senses and to your gourmet instincts. It is a palette of colors where the sun shines the whole year round (almost!).

My wife and I did the full top deck tour from start to finish, it lasts about two hours and takes in all the fantastic historic Lisbon sites. You can hope on and off at different points to visit the historic places in depth and jump on a later bus or just enjoy the tour from the top deck with... More

We went to Sintra and the palace on a guided tour also seeing other places on the way back. Our guide Francisco was very knowledgable, spoke good English and did not rush the trip. Not the cheapest way to travel but on a rather cool day it was a nice way to relax and we were well looked after.

Overall, the prices in Lisbon are not high compared to most western European cities. So..the Yellow Bus tour was not expensive. This was worth the price to get our bearings and see where we would like to explore more. You wear headphones to hear about sites rather than listening to a guide.

We purchased the 48 hr bus, tram combo online before arriving in Lisbon. This included the airport bus into the city. We were able to take the different routes to see all the sights. There were plenty of room on the bus and didn't have to wait long at the stops. The ticket also give you free access to the... More

Used the bus tour for 2 days. Took the blue route & saw numerous very nice attractions. Was impressed until day 2. It is hop on hop off, so picked up bus at stop 17, a few before the route starts again. Took us to the beginning of the route (stop 1). The bus driver took a 25 minute break.... More

On our first morning we did the hills of Lisbon red tram trip and it was fascinating to see life going on in the narrow alleyways and local shops as the tram climbed up to the statue of St. Vincent. We had quite a long wait for the tram to go back down though. Recommend getting the first tram on... More

These trips are good value and your ticket also gets you free access to other attractions. The downside for us was we only had one day, so we choose the Lisbon hill tram tour. Big tip for this is, don't get off, as the tram only holds 24 people and if no one gets off the tram at your stop,... More

The 2 day pass was excellent giving access to three different bus and one tram circuits with audioguides (hop on, hop off), together with free funiculars, free elevators, free town buses and trams, certain reduced-price visits, and navette to/from airport included - all within the 48 hour period of course. Other periods available too. Little cheaper online. Can be bought... More

We took this tour as there are so many hills in Lisbon & we thought what better way to just sit back & see them! We had a lovely tramcar driver named Paulo Brito, who was really friendly, well informed & genuinely interested in making people feel welcome to his native city. This made this really interesting tour even better... More

very easy to use, €19 and well worth the money. The guided tour was full of information, and getting to the top was a giggle. we weren't sure it was going to make it all the way. Ticket last 24 hours and can be used on all the other buses. would recommend

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
