One of the prettiest neighborhoods in the city, it is worth an afternoon to walk around this area and stop and have a coffee when you are tired. Very pleasant.

Lapa is nested in an area full of Ambassador's homes. From our balcony we were able to see Switzerland and USA embassy. Had an amazing stay at Lapa 82 Bed and Breakfast!

It's worth your while to stroll this residential neighborhood away from all of the tourist attractions, but quite charming.

The Lapa Quarter is between Estrela and the river. It is a quiet residential area with very little traffic so good walking country. Most of the foreign embassies are here as well as the prime minister's residence.

We had a apartment in this area that is calm. it is a residential area. You can find a lots of "pasteria" to take your breakfast. you will find in this area a lot of buildings with nice earthenware. If you go down the hill you will find a lot of restaurants.

In this area you have also the Estrela Basilica with a nice park.

This fascinating area is known in Lisbon as The Special Quarter and Lisboetas regard it as one of the best areas to live. For 300 years, Lapa was a favourite summer holiday destination for the English aristocracy. Today the atmosphere of that bygone, elegant age is to be found in the streets and squares where there are some magnificent examples of various architectural styles. It’s not surprising that Lapa is also home to some of Lisbon’s finest museums, churches and public gardens. A wander through the streets with their old villas and palaces interspersed with small, old established businesses and shops, many with their original décor and facades, is perfect for an evening stroll before dinner. If you prefer riding, a round-trip on the vintage No.28 tram is ideal for a wonderful tour of Lisbon.
Top-up 7 Colinas travel cards are available from the ticket machines in any Metro Station – these give you unlimited travel on the metro, trams, and Carris buses within central Lisbon and are good value – the transport system actually works and runs until 1.00 am!!!
When visiting lisbon do not miss the opportunity to visit "Lapa quarter ".

We took 4 little girls (ages 5 through 11) to tea time at the Lapa Hotel and loved it! They also loved it and totally behaved like little princesses which was fitting for the place! Loved the tea and cakes and little finger sandwiches...sadly, we were alone, there was no one else there. We liked it so much that we decided on staying to dinner (after a round of shopping nearby)...and loved our dinner as well. Next time in Portugal we may end up staying at the sumptuous hotel. Not to be missed!
