The Pantheon is really up-hill.. we got there as we visited the flea market which is near by.. the entrance is around 4 EUR. Not a must visit but a nice place if you are near by

My wife suggested going here, was a bit reticent - "It's just an old church". Really glad we went. It is an amazing space (with a reverberation of about 10 seconds or more - whispers seem to echo around). The space itself (huge dome with balcony) would be worth visiting (nice and cool, and calm). Best of all is the... More

We visited the National Pantheon on 14 May. It is an amalgamation of old and new architecture. The place pays homage to the national heroes from the time of Vasco de Gama. The best part of the visit is the climb to the terrace overlooking the Tagus river. A brief film about the construction of the Pantheon is also shown.... More

Properly for a European Christian capital, quite a few points of interest in the city are churches. Here you will not find an impressive building like the Paris Notre Dame or the Sérida-Familia of Barcelona, but the unique beauty of the Lisbon churches still requires a visit, and the 17th-century building of the Pantheon Nacional offers interesting architecture, The burial... We went here on the first Sunday of the month, so it was free. We live ten minutes up the road and had walked past the building many times. From the inside it was much more impressive than I had imagined, I didn't realize it was such a massive central space. Also the people who have tombs here were really... More

Neither the signs or the tour booklets give a though description of this wonderful place. This significant building which took 450 years to complete is worth a visit just for the interior and exterior architectures. BUT the views from the 4th floor terrace are worth the trip alone. 360 degrees. Some steep stairs to climb.

This place you have to visit if you like architecture, the huge free space inside, the decorated floor, the white stone, make this building a pleasure to visit. Take the time to explore it and to go upstairs to enjoy a really nice view of anoher side of Lisbon and to watch the wonderful floor. Inside there are buried the... More

Very nice spot, not too popular among tourists (not so overrun like other places in Lisbon). Don't miss the great view from the balcony!

I did not know that sometimes a cultural wind can inspire a and bring to the world a writer like Jose Saramago ... Neither the entrance and nor the exit, but especially upstairs on the terrase of the building I understood how it was possible ...

Staying in Graca & Sao Vicente

Neighbourhood Profile
Graca & Sao Vicente
You can be thankful that most common travel guides don't mention Graça and São Vicente that often. Part of Lisbon's historic center and "Old Town", they feel like independent villages in the capital's center, and more untouched than Alfama. Amazing views, restaurants and parks, as well as important monuments like the S. Vicente Church and the National Pantheon, make this a spectacular option for those looking for a more tranquil walk-around in the center of Lisbon. Graça has been the choice of many younger people over the past years, both nationals and expats, given the cozy feeling of the neighborhood and its hidden secrets.
