This is the BEST museum in town to get a picture of Portuguese history--the good and the bad--and the role its empire played since at least the 15th century.

This museum does a masterful job of providing the perfect environment for displaying its wonderful art works. There is no clutter and you can easily move about and enjoy the wonderful collections.

Very ancient art scene a large stock of paintings, St. Antony's temptation, by H. Bosch, the National Museum is one of the nicest in Lisbon, often there are also expositions, temporary exhibitions, merite a visit; around are nice gardens and a coffeshop.

If one enjoys museums, this is one worth visiting in Lisbon.There are so many displays and sometimes special exhibitions that one can easily spend two to three hours mesmerizing at the displays, it is like a miniature Louvres!!
