About
The Oceanário de Lisboa is a world-renowned public aquarium, an inspiring “window” into the ocean, establishing an emotional connection with the public, and encouraging positive personal relationships with the ocean. Oceanário de Lisboa is one of the largest aquariums in Europe -featuring over 15,000 marine creatures from 500 species! - and one of the most visited places in Portugal, just 10 min. away from Lisbon airport. It has been recognize for three times as the "best aquarium in the world" by TripAdvisor's Travellers'Choice. Visitors can see, among others, Magellanic penguins, sea otters, rays and several species of sharks and corals. The ticket includes three exhibits - and it contributes to the conservation of the ocean and marine biodiversity. This attraction is a popular stop on hop-on hop-off bus tours in Lisbon, including audio guides in several languages. – Tripadvisor

Neighbourhood: Parque das Nações
This neighborhood was built up at the end of the 1990s mostly because of the Expo '98. The pavilions and structures that once were the home of all the Expo's attractions and exhibits are still culturally and artistically significant. In Parque das Nações you'll explore conference and concert pavilions, a shopping center, trendy restaurants and an enjoyable cable car ride you can't miss out on. On top of this, the amazing Lisbon Oceanarium (one of the most spectacular things you'll ever see in the city) will take your breath away: its respect and will to preserve natural wildlife is uncanny. Easily accessible by metro, bus or taxi from the city center, Parque das Nações is highly recommended for anyone who'll spend more than 3 days in the Portuguese capital.

Sometimes it seems that the people “scratching” reviews on 2 lines live like this - they ran, they came running, they checked the box. We have forgotten how to contemplate, see the beautiful, stop and freeze. This is me referring to some of the reviews below - so dismissive and snobbish. The Lisbon Aquarium fully justifies its title as the largest in Europe. We two “kids” of 50 and 60 years old were there on Saturday, but there were few people, probably everyone went to the ocean - for April it was a very hot day +27. There was no line for tickets. The ticket costs 25 euros, including the cable car - 30 euros. The Lisbon card provides a 15% discount, but it does not apply to the combined ticket with the cable car. We spent 2.5 hours in the aquarium. We really enjoyed. We ended up feeding the otters. And they looked at the inhabitants of the depths of the sea for a long time. The collection of animals is impressive, the building is large and spacious. We adults loved it, and the kids were absolutely delighted. And the area of the Park of Nations itself is good for walks and family recreation - there are interesting sculptures, many cafes.

The Lisbon Oceanario is truly an impressive experience for the whole family! With our visit, we were very pleased with the way the marine species are presented and the attention to detail in each aquarium. The children were thrilled with the sharks, medusas, and octopuses, while the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, making it an ideal place for family walks.
Accessibility was excellent, and the spaces welcoming, with many places for rest or small stops. Overall, Oceanario left us the best impressions, and we highly recommend it to any family visiting Lisbon!

This is one of the best aquariums we've been to. There is a great variation of animals including Sea Otters and Puffins. The main central aquarium is fantastic with lots to see with a nice and reasonably priced restaurant on site. It took us around 3 hours to visit and would recommend it to anybody visiting Lisbon.

The ocenary was made in a new facility on the promenade on the Tagus. It develops around the spectacular main tank and has many smaller tanks where there are fish from various parts of the world. You travel a fairly long internal journey, there are very good explanations of what you can see. Beautiful place for both children and adults.

For the complete visit, 1 hour and a half is enough.
The central tank is very beautiful (really huge and visible from any point of the oceanarium). Don't stop immediately to take photos there because there are many other less crowded spots.
Equally beautiful is the penguin tank, from which you can really see them from very close up.
then for the rest there are many small tanks with many tropical fish.
To be clear, not at the levels of Valencia and Genoa, but certainly for children it is an obligatory stop in Lisbon.

Wonderful experience.
I had already been years ago, and now, in the family, I was not disappointed.
The central pool is beautiful, but even more so are the tanks of the 4 ecosystems, manicured and with many explanatory panels. Take an extra shirt because in two tanks it can be cold! Beautiful column of leaf dragons.
Avoid weekends because it's overflowing!

It is a spectacular aquarium, with a variety of opportunities to appreciate marine life from different angles, windows, windows, entire walls of glass... The feeling of being in the sea sharing space with the fish is achieved very well. It has very striking spices such as sunfish, seahorse, medudas, or Napoleon fish.

The aquarium here is incredible. They have one extremely large main aquarium with tons of fish, rays, sharks, a big ocean sunfish, and a bunch of other stuff. They also have a bunch of smaller aquariums with all sorts of weird and interesting fish. Kids would love this place and adults with thoroughly enjoy it too.

We (my 12 years old son and I) have visited the Ocenario in a guided tour this late June! We had Rita as our guide.
First of all I want to concgatulate the Ocenario for making possible and so accessible as costs such a guided visit. I was amazing.
Then, congratulation for such a committed, lot of knowlegde, responsible and pleasant employee, guide Rita.
I spent some amazingly enjoyable hours with her. Lots of explanations, she answered to all our questions, passed a lot of value.
Thank YOU, Rita and Lisbon Ocenario!!!!

How magnificent... we love our almost three hours spent in there! What beauty, what spectacular work. We have never been to an oceanarium before and that was our wish to meet in Lisbon. Mandatory tour for those who go to Lisbon, tour for all ages. We saw countless children, and how they were enjoying everything they saw! We were really impressed with such beauty. Long live nature!

Gracias
