Opened in 1998, the Oceanário was the centerpiece of the XXth Century's last World Fair, themed "The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future", and eternally binds Lisbon to the Oceans.MissionThe Oceanário’s mission is to promote knowledge of the oceans and bring up the public about the duty of protecting natural heritage, through changing their daily habits. While walking through impressive and unforgettable exhibits, visitors are encouraged to learn fascinating things about the oceans and, more importantly, how to make decisions in their daily lives that actively promote the conservation of nature.

The oceanarium is located in a fun new part of town, and the buildings architecture is noteworthy. The puffin exhibit was the highlight, but lots more to see from all different ecosystems. Great for all ages.

Well worth visiting. Several scenarios, environments, atmospheres. Great for both adults and children. If visiting in the summer, take a sweater with you - the 'north pole' area could get a little chilly ;-)

Well worth a visit. The main deep tank has stunning aquatic life. Circling it are many tanks with marine life from different areas of the world. Beautifully kept and the staff are very knowledgable. Great kids section. Don’t miss a trip here.

Parque das Nacoes
This neighborhood was built up at the end of the 1990s
mostly because of the Expo '98. The pavilions and
structures that once were the home of all the Expo's
attractions and exhibits are still culturally and
artistically significant. In Parque das Nações you'll
explore conference and concert pavilions, a shopping
center, trendy restaurants and an enjoyable cable car
ride you can't miss out on. On top of this, the

Hi Lindsey, There isn't a touch pool for like petting rays or anything like that. There are a couple areas that have open pools where the penguins and seas otters are but you can't physically interact with them.
