Huge Oceanarium, apparently the second largest in Europe. Massive tank with lots of different viewing windows and other small tanks also, plus penguins, otters and puffins. We went to see the sunfish, but there are loads of sharks, rays and fish. Really well done and worth the train trip out of the old town.

Fun to go with kids or friends. We didn't expect much from it at first, but we had a blast! You can walk around for a long time looking at all the beautiful fish in the two-story tank.

Spent 2 hours here but could have spent more if we had watched all the various videos etc available. The route you follow is over two floors around the vast central aquarium which is full of sharks, rays, and a myriad of fish species. There are many side aquariums and also penguins, seabirds, and a couple of very cute sea... More

Undoubtedly a very well designed oceanarium with plenty to see and a massive tank in the middle housing huge rays, sharks and numerous other fish. Very educational - but my only worry was the repetitive behaviour of some of the penguins, and an otter which repeatedly swam the same circuit. Their enclosures are not big and seeing this made me... Took a trip to Lisbon on an overcast day after reading about the Oceanarium. It did not disappoint, lots to see and a huge main tank and then other sections for the different temperate zones round the world, educational and interesting with a great range if creatures to see - including some pretty big sharks in the main tank.

Recommended...the large tank holding sharks and large fish is accessible from many sides, you can sit and just watch the marine life which was so much fun.

The must to go with kids. Better to go on weekdays to enjoy it without crowds. Look for N e m o ! It is thought to find parking place around and if you are with small kids better to take stroller, be prepared to spend 2 or 3 hours.

Briefly, it is a very diverse aquarium, many different species in different atmospheres. I enjoyed the overall ambiance. Definitely recommended!

Staying in Parque das Nacoes

Neighbourhood Profile
Parque das Nacoes
This neighborhood was built up at the end of the 1990s mostly because of the Expo '98. The pavilions and structures that once were the home of all the Expo's attractions and exhibits are still culturally and artistically significant. In Parque das Nações you'll explore conference and concert pavilions, a shopping center, trendy restaurants and an enjoyable cable car ride you can't miss out on. On top of this, the amazing Lisbon Oceanarium (one of the most spectacular things you'll ever see in the city) will take your breath away: its respect and will to preserve natural wildlife is uncanny. Easily accessible by metro, bus or taxi from the city center, Parque das Nações is highly recommended for anyone who'll spend more than 3 days in the Portuguese capital.
