Opened in 1998, the Oceanário was the centerpiece of the XXth Century's last World Fair, themed "The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future", and eternally binds Lisbon to the Oceans.MissionThe Oceanário’s mission is to promote knowledge of the oceans and bring up the public about the duty of protecting natural heritage, through changing their daily habits. While walking through impressive and unforgettable exhibits, visitors are encouraged to learn fascinating things about the oceans and, more importantly, how to make decisions in their daily lives that actively promote the conservation of nature.

I seen smaller and better Oceanarium than this one. Temporary exhibition poor and main exhibition average. €18 per ticket for both it’s little too much.

Hundreds and I mean hundreds of people. Lines and each viewing spot with so many people you can't get to the window. Great otherwise if you can find a time thats not crowded insanely.

Not really my cup of tea but if you are into acvatic animals, fish and water then this is a must when in Lisbon, as it's the largest in Europe :) The tank is huge and you go round in circles around it. The pinguins...More

I was there for a bit over an hour. I'm not the kind of person that enjoys stuff like this like some others, but I still appreciated the sheer size of the water tank containing all different species. Otters and penguins were highlight for me....More

We had really great time! We were having fun and were excited to see all those beautiful animals, while the main aquarium is the best! Just sitting on the floor and watching sharks, rajiforms and many smaller fish floating around...

Loved the 4 areas in the upstairs section - really different to other aquariums we have visited. Also had some fish we haven’t seen in other aquariums. Good way to spend a couple of hours :)

Parque das Nacoes
This neighborhood was built up at the end of the 1990s
mostly because of the Expo '98. The pavilions and
structures that once were the home of all the Expo's
attractions and exhibits are still culturally and
artistically significant. In Parque das Nações you'll
explore conference and concert pavilions, a shopping
center, trendy restaurants and an enjoyable cable car
ride you can't miss out on. On top of this, the

No extra ticket needed, but as 'Mbvanwees' just said, it all depends on feeding times. You may be able to catch the penguins being fed, but I suspect they feed the fish in the main tank when the aquarium is closed.
