We walked to this beach from Cascais, a pleasant walk along the sea. We did not linger for long but noted a nice stretch of sand, gentle surf, and some places to buy food.

Tamariz beach in Estoril is a beautiful beach with facilities and nearby restaurants, right across from
the train station

I absolutely love this beach. This is my childhood beach.
You can have a great time by yourself or with kids.
You have a quieter side of the beach or the busiest side. We always stay near the big rock, where you can explore the sea life and see the most beautiful creatures.
The water most of the time is very cold but refreshes your soul 😉

This was my first time going to a beach and it was a great experience coming here. I didn't know what to expect, but I got the concept behind beaches and why people loved it.

The water was cold and the people were really happy and present.

The beach was beautiful and looked very clean, but I got a horrible skin infection on my hand and foot from the sand. This could be from a leaky sewerage pipe under the beach sand, or maybe bird feces?

Either way, looks can be deceiving. Something on Praia do Tamariz ain't clean.

In my opinion, the best beach near Lisbon, which can be reached by train. There is a shower, small cafes, a train stop 100 meters away.

Sorry, this post is not a review of the fine Praia do Tamariz - it’s meant as inspiration to walk (or run) the brillant 3 km coastal stretch Cascais-Estoril.

On your way you’ll see people exercising, walking their dogs (some even collecting the poops), watching the many old mansions, drinking coffee, even swimming in December.

Don’t miss this great opportunity for fresh air and the soothing sound of the ocean.

Enjoyed nice, quiet stroll down beach as tide was coming in almost every day. Surfers in huge waves & sea rescue training were interesting to watch. It's always relaxing to get off the streets & relax with bare feet on the sand anywhere!

Just about 45 minutes from Lisbon via train, is the resort town of Cascais. We spent a couple of hours at this beautiful beach amidst the unique rock formations. Wonderful! It's easy to get to and well worth a day trip from Lisbon.

The beach is directly at the railway station Estoril. You walk 100 m and then you are at a beautiful beach with fine sand, and clean but cold water. On the west end there are flat rocks and a nice view to Cascais, especially at sunset. On the east end of the beach you find a sea swimming pool for those who feel uncomfortable swimming in the open sea. Brave teenager dive into the pool, jumping from big blocks at the pool border. The beach is always populated, so it never gets boring to stay a few hours there. All the people are very relaxed and they just want to enjoy beach life by sitting, talking with friends. Children digging holes in the sand. Men play some ball games. Women show off the newest sexy swimwear by standing at the waves, with their legs in water. You won't see any nonsens watersport gadgets like banana boats, parachute sailing, or jet skis. Just people spending a day at the beach.
