We visited on Thursday around 11:15 AM, just before a school group arrived. Because of the school group, they showed the 30 minute video. We both found it interesting even though we knew nothing about the founding of Portugal. Since it was lunch time when it finished, we did not walk the battle field.

If you are a history buff and have read about the creation of the Portuguese nation this is a must. You can walk the battlefield and there is an excellent film, with English VO, and accompanied by visuals of the battle as it transpired. There is a simple cafeteria, inexpensive and friendly. Ask at the tourist office in Batalha for... More

Knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Nice video with historic explanation. There's also a souvenirs shop, were several things (eg: children costumes) can be bought.

This museum/permanent exhibition explains the victory of the Portuguese army and its English allies over the Castilian army and its French allies on August 14, 1385. The Portuguese/English army counted only about 6500 soldiers whilst their opponents were more than 31000. The Centro de Interpretacao da Batalha de Aljubarrota explains why and how this battle took place. To celebrate his... More

I don't understand why it took me so long to visit this place. 2 major atractions: the walk trough the battle field explained by a guide or an audioguide and a 15 minutes virtual show that explains very well the battle. You have a restaurant and a picnic area there.

Although I'm portuguese and the battle of Aljubarrota is an important moment of our history and is discussed at school, it was my first time here. The place and the explanations of the guides are very interesting for adults and children. It's a place mandatory for the portuguese and for all that want to understand why we are so diferent,... I was very sceptical when the tour bus pulled in and thought that a "mock up" film would be boring. How wrong I was. The story of the deeds of Nuno Alvarez Pereira was very well done, the museum had some interesting human remains, weapons and the battle tactics were clearly explained. Also on the site is the small thanksgiving... More

For a fan of the military achievements it is a great place to study tactics, immerse himself in the time of the battle, think about Perreira brothers fighting on the opposite side in the conflict and watch informational short movie.
