A nice small forest, of mixed trees, old and young, with decent birdlife. This should be commonplace, instead of the horrible endless young eucalyptus plantations that destroy biodiversity and are a major hazard for the local population (death toll of fires is high in Portugal).
Not a tourist attraction - just a nice place to walk just outside of the city.

Located on the north western outskirts if the city, Coupal is a wooded area which is mainly very popular with local joggers, but is also pleasant to go for a walk.
Not really something that I would put on a tourist itinerary.

Great place for a nature walk 5 minutes from the center of Coimbra. You can ear and see a vast number of bird species, including grey herons, tawny owls, common buzzards and one colony of black kites.

We had to wait for a train at Coimbra B station and decided to spend some time cycling in Choupal forest. It is very close to the station so was quick and easy to get there. We enjoyed the smooth cycling tracks and had coffee so much better than sitting at the station. It feels much furhter from the city so a nice relaxing place to visit.

It is near Coimbra , so if Uluru are a runner this is a perfect route to run. In the middle of the park there is a small cantina I think it opens from 9 to 8pm. There are also some places for picnic and to relax. I was there once a week and never regretted it.

between the rio Montego and a canal, a beautiful place to come to rest and admire nature... there is a cafetaria hidden among the trees where one can drink a coffee, and lovely walks all around

You should come to this place only to leave the city relax and make 30min-1h running.
This is also used to make lunch with families, however they must bring their own food :P

If you love to run this is the place, always fresh with those beautifull trees.
also the best place to play some pick-up basketball, the courts are not very good, but usually theres lots of other players there and you can get some interesting games.

A trip to the north part of Portugal is very interesting, driving with a car over narrow roads with many u turns makes it wild.
