Best place ever. Spent 3 hours there. Recommend taking a picnic. Also toilets which are free to use. Very well kept and peaceful gardens.

We visited this garden as the sun was setting. We only spent about 30 min. But it was wonderful. The fountains, ponds, trees, and sounds of nature. My favorite part was the bamboo pathway!

After visiting the University, we strolled through the botanical garden. It is in need of some repair, however it remains beautiful and impressive with its fountains and ponds. Has hints of royal gardens. Was build by the King to be used by the University to study botany.

Beautiful tranquil gardens. A lovely route down from the university area to the riverside. Spectacular bamboo forest, atmospheric fountain and many different trees. Best of all it is free.

Nice gardens (including a tropical glasshouse) with labelled trees from Portugal and overseas. Good place to let the children play and enjoy themselves. Can be quite hot in summer so take some water.

This walk is a challenge with all the up hill climbing, but so worth it! It’s quiet, lovely and you can hear the birds sing. Very few tourists and best of all it’s free! My wife & I climbed it several times and found it to be a convenient access to the University. For a while this path makes you forget you are in a city!

An easy place to access. Part of the University and a place to go to stroll or do nothing but relax.

I liked this botanical garden because it was very green and well kept. Also, there was a lot of security and they would make sure that people kept the masks on.

Going to Coimbra for most visitors the University is a must, mainly the University Library. Quite close to it one may find the Botanical Garden; in my opinion it is worth to plan some time to visit it as well. Don’t forget that Portugal was an Empire and from the four corners of the Globe were brought plants to the Garden. Enjoy!
