Buy your ticket and be on time for getting in to see this magnificant library. Once inside try to listen to a tour guide explaining everything. This is an unbelievable opportunity to view history. The ornate decor is second only to the moment you realize...More

Beautiful location with city sights. Worth making a 1 hour visit to see . Best time early in the morning .

Quite the most stunning library, with oak book cases full of ancient manuscripts. Very opulent with a lot of gold encrusted wood. The whole visit was timed to last 20 minutes with 60 people each time, so we were not crowded or hurried.

Whew. Unless you are an educator and are dead set on seeing one of the oldest universities in Portugal we'd pass on this UNESCORTED site. Difficult to get to and not much different than other Portugal UNESCO sites.

Short visits only permited but well worth it. You need an electronic or human guide to make the most of the visit.
