Enjoyed the tour of the canal - great guide - speaking 4 languages! Very relaxing and informative. But need to book ahead certainly in August as the tours get booked up.

In my opinion, the best way to experience Aveiro is a boat trip on the canals. The guide was informative and amusing, and the trip provided a memorable overview of the town.

The boats are absolute works of art. Pay close attention to the details, including the quirky sayings. Our tour guide was a wealth of information and we really enjoyed watching her blow the horn to alert other boats that we were entering/exiting a tunnel, etc.

Cannot compare with Venice or be a copy of it. Ria de Aveiro has its own charm and enchantment. The moliceiros are beautiful and our guide Adriana was amazingly friendly and lovely. Not expensive. A must.

You go back and fort a few times, seeing the same places again, and the only beautiful part is were you started!

The boat trip on the channel is waste of time. You only sail in a very small area in some closed channels. This means that they turn the boat around 3 times, sailing the same route back. Take a walk instead in this beautiful town....More
