Near the Aveiro canal, free to walk around the Salinaes. Good information in Portuguese and English. We saw some nice birds. Shop and houses were closed. But it was a nice short walk.

Well, how interesting can salt pans be ? The guidde did a good job but there is not realluy a lot to see. Except for birdwatchers and it wass fun spotting flamingoes and other waterfowl

After taking a canal tour that went near the salt beds we asked about seeing them up close and discovered that it was free to walk around them. You can walk all along the beds and there is information in Portuguese and English that explains how the salt is harvested ... a difficult job and still done manually. I thought it was very interesting and made a point to pick up some salt (very cheap! ) from the stores to take home.…
