We came on from the port and drove up into the mountains to see the caldera. The drive was beautiful! Everything is so very green and the views of the coast as you ascend the mountains are spectacular. The Pico Carvao is breathtaking and beautiful. Well worth the time to see!

Unfortunately we saw some stupid tourists climbing on the aqueduct. We tried to explained to them what would happen to structures if every tourist would do the same. They seemed to understand.

This is one of those postcard views for which this island is famous. Driving is a challenge if passengers want to stop at every overlook for more pictures....

This is an absolutely beautiful spot, but as always with the Azores, your visit must be timed very well to not just end up on a muddy track in the middle of a cloud.

But if you manage to time the visit just right (early in the day on a clear day), it is an absolutely stunning view.

There is a parking lot by the main road and about 20-25 min walk from there to the view point, but if you turn down the dirt road by the parking lot, you can drive almost all the way out to the viewpoint.

Make sure to bring practical (preferably hiking boots) as the trail can be quite slippery and is somewhat steep (although not that long),

The island is beautiful, so there are so many views, it's difficult to say one is particularly better than another. This one, however, is memorable. The rolling hills, seeing all the way down to the shore on both sides of the island, the aqueducts - it all comes together. Not a destination in itself, but a quick pitstop while touring the countryside. Driving is incredibly easy on the island, so long as you're comfortable with standard transmission (there are lots of hills you need to gear down on while climbing....)

It is a viewpoint located in Cete Cidades , county of Ponta Delgada. It offers a very broad view of the mountains and Cete Cidades lakes, which can be seen in blue and green colours if there is enough sun

Great spot. The access is not very straightforward but a GPS or a guide will take you there fast. Worth to go up for the stunning view

One is surrounded by amazing nature, landscapes and seascapes. When the sun is out you can look for miles across rolling hills with grazing cows and framed by ocean. Beautiful. Pictures won't do it justice. We were driving around at the end of August with no other cars in sight taking it all in in absolute quiet. Nature is what sells the Azores. That and peaceful silence.

The best view to "Lagoa das Sete Cidades". You can check both lakes and the view is even better than "Vista do Rei". The place didn't have any infrastructure but it well worth the visit.
