I’d recommend starting off your time at the plantation with watching the video as you arrive. We were there during the off season so it was a nice overview of the tea making process & we were able to see the machines working and production happening. There was no actual work happening while we were there outside of the tea... More

As the only tea plantation in Europe, Gorreana is unique. What makes it truly exceptional to visit, in our opinion, is the old world feel of the operation, from the hand picking and sorting, to the beautiful manually operated machinery, to the final packaging. The tour opens up a world that is as warm and nostalgic as a hot cup... More

Nice to view old ways to prepare tea from the land to the pack through the old factory. Still done the old way with no additions. It is a place where you could smell and drink tea (for free) -much as you want. You could also by some sovenirs, tea packs, typical drinks and much more... Fell free to visit... More

We happened to visit on a Saturday and there didn't appear to be any tours available. We did walk through one of the tea plantations on our own but we couldn't find anyone that would help explain anything nor answer questions. A bit of a let down as we were definitely looking forward to this. Maybe call ahead to see... More

We were fortunate to have an excellent guide who walked us through the works of the factory. It was kind of like stepping back in time ... and really cool to see all the older equipment that was still being used. The views while you sipped your tea samples was also amazing. Great little pit stop during the afternoon.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Plantações of Cha Gorreana! Its a beautiful place, where you can walk around the plantacoes, you can have this amazing tea for free, watch a movie about the history of the factory and production of tea in Azores and buy souvenirs, cakes and ice-cream if you wish! Highly recommend a visit here if... More

We travelled from the south island area of Caloura looking for an easy walk through a Tea Plantation and found Cha Gorreana east if Ribieira Grande on the north shore of the Island of Sao Miguel. The Plantation was on a gorgeous piece of the Azores with beautiful views of the North waters. We did a a quick inside view... More

It's amazing to know how the oldest factory is producing the tea. You need a tour guide otherwise could be useless and boring. But don't miss it.

I'm glad I checked it out Cha Gorreana for a couple of reasons: 1. I'd never been to a tea plantation before and 2. I needed gifts to take home and the tea is perfect. Their manufacturing process is antiquated and labour intensive. Their orange pekoe product is delicious. I learned how green and black tea are related.

The goal it was to visit "Chá Gorreana" factory and to know it history and it birth. But by the end my mind was fixed only on the green tea and the icea cream green that I tasted!
