The entire São Miguel Island is really impressive, but this probably was my favorite spot from all the island. I think it is also called Miradouro da Grota do Inferno and after you find the Lagoa on the left side you should keep walking and...More

Peace and quiet in an astonishing landscape. The colours are marvellous. Silence is all around us. As well as beauty.

Forget the small lake, drive to the bottom of the dirt road and find the view point path. It is up some steps, not bad if you are in moderately good condition, most spectacular view imaginable on a clear day.

Amazing view, but you need to be lucky to find a day without fog! You can park in the road but there's parking near the viewpoint and it will save you a 500m walk Even with the fog it's an amazing place to go!!

Amazing views over the main lagoons, with spreading greens and spring air. Advise: make a 2h trail bu foot at the top of the hill.

Beautiful lake. Not a good walking decline for those with bad knees! Make sure you carry-on down the road and park at the end lot (stay left at fork) and hike up to the amazing trail and vantage point overlooking part of Sete de Citades...More

I love this spot. It offers beauty with such a extraordinary lookout spot! I recommend finding this place for sure. If you are a hiker the trails here are phenomenal!

This is it! Almost all the promotional material I have seen for Sao Miguel show photos taken from the viewpoint at Lagoa do Canario. I had no idea how to find the trail from those photos until one of our B&B hosts drew it out...More
