This is well worth a visit just to see the four rooms of amazing paintings dating back centuries that had never been shown to public viewing until recently. It's amazing to see such a huge collection of paintings but the archaelogical display is rather small but does have a skeleton of bones dating back to 3rd or 4th century.

There is also some contemporary art on show to parade local talent. The building itself is nice but still needs a bit of upkeep as it's seen better days. Not... More

Faro is a great town to wander through and Museu Municipal de Faro is a very special part of the town. Lots of culture and history. It is a place I am sure Portugal can pride itself with. We had a very memorable day here.

Building maintained, but original charm gone. Paintings and archeological remnants are not impressive if you have ever visited a larger museum. Wish they restored the place to reflect its history.

It's a museum; so don't go if you don't like them. If you do, it's a great and vey interesting place to visit, presenting the history and culture of Faro and its surroundings very well.

Discovered the little local museum by chance but what a find. Entrance only €2, very friendly staff . Beautiful setting with cloistered Courtyard and a variety of temporary and permanent exhibitions plus a surprise musical performance in picture gallery. Traditional Fado concert sung by lovely young artist accompanied by Portuguese guitar. A real gem and a must to visit.

Not a very inspiring museum. Exhibits are not well explained and there is not too much there - hardly worth going.

Worth a visit, in each room is an English translated book. Worth researching key Portuguese words as they don't directly translate and are much more powerful.
