Very relaxing walk through the old town. Loads of places to stop off for a cold drink and fine food.

Love the flooring - all mosaic patterns. So many back streets to explore and little quaint shops to visit. Plenty of souvenirs to be bought. You could spend an entire day walking around if you like, but a half day or a morning will suffice....More

My daughter and I put a day aside to explore the historic Old Town of Faro. We managed to cover most of what we set out to achieve, our biggest regret was somehow we missed out on Carmo Church - never mind, perhaps another time....More

You can not visit faro and miss a walk amongst the cobbled stones and drink or a meal at the lovely places dotted around and visit the church. Most people land in faro and go off but it is a beautiful place to visit and...More

Faro old town was great for exploring cobbled narrow streets. The cathedral (€3.50 entry for adults much less for students/school age) was good. Good views from the top of you're ok with steep steps. All of it next to the harbour and not far away...More

This is the most tranquil place the cathedral is amazing and as you walk through the gates ou can feel yourself walking in to history beware of going Sunday as the prayers will take all day and you can’t visit then

Very calm and peaceful during the day and evening. Some restaurants and some shops, not too much hustle and bustle. A few plazas to rest on a bench.

This city is vibrant. Thanks to its location, Faro manages to maintain a calm atmosphere and the charm of the tradition that floats above, surrounded by beautiful walls, the Old Town. I spent a wonderful time there with my family. Streets full of charm, pubs...More

Lovely place to visit, especially the Anchor, Faro's oldest pub. Nice ice cream parlour on the corner of the marina as well, also a good cocktail bar on the marina front. .

A brilliant town with great beaches, restaurants and bars and entertainment... ladies do not wear high heels as everywhere is paved with small shiny cobbles

Yes buses run every 15-20 minutes. I didn't take the train in Faro but the train map looked simple. I used the train when I was staying in Porto and it was fine.

You can easily walk from the train station & bus station to the Marina & old town. The old town is not huge so is very doable on a day trip.
