Carvoeiro beach is one of the nicest in Algarve terms of scenery aginst the backgorund offered by the lovely village. Our first attempt to spend a day here was on a Saturday after 11 am and we had no chance to find any free sunbeds...More
It's a nice little cove easily accessible from the town square ..you can just walk onto it.. there are boat tours leaving from the beach so although you can swim in the sea you would need to be alert to the 5 or 6 speed...More
As a HUGE fan of Carvoiero, in general, this little beach is an absolute jewel in it's crown. I have previously visited out of season and so had never seen it with sunbeds available or with many people sunbathing. However, even with holiday makers sunning...More
We have been coming to carvoeiro since 2004.This year we spotted a couple of rows of sunbeds - for three of us the vendor charged 50 euros. later that day another three ladies came and despite being after 2pm he charged them 50 euros as...More
Stopped here for the afternoon with free time on a tour. It is definitely a small beach. However, it has everything you need...bars, restaurants, shops, bathrooms and showers. There was even entertainment at night. The sand is a little course so you may want water...More
As with most beaches in Algarve the sea is deep very quickly but it is a lovely beach. Does get very busy in high season. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Tourist information very near the beach and very helpful.
Lovely beach with shops and places to eat and entertainment in the evening nearby. There are lifeguards and it’s pretty busy as expected, in summer.
It’s quite rocky with some sharp stones if you’re near the shore. It put my daughter off swimming there again...More
A fantastic looking beach, especially from the cliffs surrounding but!! In August it was packed, you would struggle to get a space by 9am and it is tiny so it is rammed all day, don't expect any space around you. It is a coarse sand...More

I think your question has mainly been answered. There are lots of Brits who stay over in Carvoeiro during Christmas and New Year. Our Villa owner last year, who is herself British, said that there is a real party atmosphere around the town at Christmas, with people congregating on the beach for a BBQ, weather permitting of course.
As for local transport - there will always be the local buses to/from Lagoa which operate all year round, where you then get further along the Algarve coast, and of course Taxis are always available and are relatively inexpensive compared to UK process.
It is probably the safest I have ever felt on holiday ( and that includes the UK ). The locals are extremely friendly and helpful and they love children and welcome them everywhere. The beach is lovely and a real sun trap... More
It is probably the safest I have ever felt on holiday ( and that includes the UK ). The locals are extremely friendly and helpful and they love children and welcome them everywhere. The beach is lovely and a real sun trap. It is quite a steep gradient entering the sea and the current can be strong so a word of caution if you have small children or people who are not good swimmers. There is an abundance of reasonably priced restaurants and the quality of the food is very good. Plenty of bars showing various sports and a few shops. Good location for excursions etc. I hope to go back there again. Hope this helps.
