"Modern" tapestries shouldn't put potential visitors off. The detailed work into making these pieces places them far beyond most people's purses...More

I found my way to the museum of tapestry almost by accident. The work is amazing technically and extraordinarily beautiful. It would worth flying to Lisbon and then driving 3 hours to Portalegre just to visit it!!

This was spectacular and should not be missed. Amazing tapestries and incredible that they were all hand done. Well worth diverting to visit

This town is where the tradition of Portuguese tapestry was resuscitated after World War II. The museum explains the history of tapestry making in Portugal, and exhibits old and modern tapestries that are stunning. Very educational.
